We’re excited to share our 2023 Year in Review Report, featuring a year’s worth of data from caregivers using the ianacare platform. This report offers a unique, data-driven view into how caregivers truly ask for, receive, and leverage support. The "sandwich generation" is feeling the squeeze more than ever. This should be a bipartisan issue. A proposal we are excited to see this morning comes from the Harris Waltz campaign to expand Medicare benefits to include home care for seniors. This is a critical step in easing the burden on caregivers who are caught between raising children and caring for aging parents. Today, without this, far too many seniors are having to engineer their bankruptcy to qualify for long-term care benefits under Medicaid. This should not be how it works in America. By offering support for home health aides and other services, this plan would help millions of Americans provide care at home, reducing the financial and emotional strain. With over 105 million Americans providing unpaid care, this is the kind of policy we need to lift the load off caregivers' shoulders and allow aging loved ones to stay in the comfort of home. #SandwichGeneration #Medicare #HospitalAtHome https://lnkd.in/e-5-uVfn

It wasn't a typical ianacare meeting this past Monday ... We had the privilege of hearing from Dr. Kai-Fong Lee (Yes! Our CEO's Steven Lee's wonderful Dad), who shared some incredible insights from his post-retirement adventures and reflections. His wisdom resonated deeply with our ianacare team as we work to support caregivers in finding balance and support in retirement. (Pictured 2nd row, 3rd from the left - can you tell we were overjoyed to learn from him?!) Here are the top 3 lessons he shared with us: 1️⃣ Embrace the Journey: Whether crossing the Pacific at 17 or exploring the wilderness of Canada, Dr. Lee reminded us that the joy of travel—like life—lies in appreciating every moment and experience along the way. 2️⃣ Lifelong Learning: From translating ancient verses to leveraging modern AI tools (yes, even ChatGPT!), Dr. Lee emphasized the importance of constantly expanding our horizons and staying curious, particularly when it comes to music and reading. 3️⃣ Wisdom in Reflection: Drawing from his favorite quotes, Dr. Lee left us with profound reminders: happiness can be found in simple moments, courage is about both action and listening, and life is an ongoing exploration. "Life would be infinitely happier, if we could only be born at the age of 80 and gradually approach 18." - Mark Twain We're incredibly grateful for Dr. Lee's time and inspiration to remind us what is important in life. His perspective reminds us that even in retirement, there's so much to explore, learn, and look forward to. And that's why we want to make sure those that need care find the support they need - so retirement can be a place and space for continued joy. #TeamCulture #LifelongLearning #Retirement

Patients invite us into their homes. This changes the narrative from physicians focusing on “What is the matter?” to “What matters to you?”. Hospital at Home programs change the power dynamic, shifting away from the hospital and the physician and toward the patient and their family and loved ones. It was fascinating to hear the perspectives from Jatin Dave, Kamia Thakur, and Jessica Nam Kim at the Patient Experience Symposium in Boston. Diving into the details about what has gone well and what needs improvement when it comes to the patient, their family and their caregivers, we had a lively conversation amongst our panel and the audience. Thank you to ICD Media Group for a fantastic conference. Looking forward to revisiting this topic at the Hospital at Home Leadership Summit in San Antonio in December. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention published a study last week, showing that caregivers face worse health outcomes than those who are not responsible for the care of a loved one. When caregivers don't have access to the support they need, they end up becoming patients themselves, leading to negative health outcomes and higher costs. "...If a caregiver isn't being taken care of, they're delaying their own care and will have shorter life expectancies, higher costs... the goal of CMS is to ensure the health and well-being of all of their beneficiaries, not just those with dementia or who are utilizing services as part of GUIDE." - Torrie Fields CMS, with the launch of the GUIDE model, is building the support these caregivers need in clinical processes, and our team is ready to support these caregivers with the tools they need to better support their loved one and themselves. At ianacare, we believe that no one should grieve alone. Just this year, we launched our Bereavement Support Program. It is designed to provide working caregivers with the empathy, guided support, and resources they need during the difficult times of loss. 💡 Why This Program Matters: - Personalized Care: Our Caregiver Navigators offer one-on-one support tailored to each caregiver's unique journey. - Comprehensive Resources: From funeral planning to coping strategies, we provide curated resources to help caregivers manage every aspect of their grief. - Proactive Outreach: Regular follow-ups ensure that caregivers receive continuous support throughout the year. 📈 Value to Working Caregivers: - Emotional Support: "Just having someone willing to listen to what you are going through really makes a difference.” – Kristel, program participant - Practical Guidance: Access to employer and community resources to help navigate through this challenging time. - Ease of Access: Caregivers get matched with a Navigator in 24-48 hours after request. A big thank you to Bahamia Ulysse, Caregiver Navigator Director, who leads this program and ensures all of our caregivers are supported during their caregiving journey and when they grieve the loss of their loved one. #Grief #Bereavement #MentalHealth
