The venue was alive with children, families, and space enthusiasts, all eager to explore interactive exhibitions, meet astronauts, and immerse themselves in the world of space exploration. The day featured engaging experiences, including virtual reality, hands-on workshops, and opportunities to interact with astronauts and space experts. The International #Astronauts Chapter session provided the public with a unique opportunity to ask questions and learn firsthand about life in space from experienced astronauts. Adding to the day's magic was a special musical performance, where attendees enjoyed a joint performance by the choirs "Little Astronauts Troup" from China and "Grillo d’Oro" from Pesaro, creating a memorable cultural exchange. The closing ceremony in the afternoon was an emotional and unforgettable moment, celebrating the many achievements of the congress. As the event came to a close, the atmosphere was filled with pride and reflection on a week of groundbreaking discussions and collaborations. The ceremony culminated with the official handover of the IAF flag from the hosts of #IAC2024 to the organizers of IAC 2025 Sydney, marking a deeply symbolic and emotional moment. Day 4 of #IAC2024 in #Milano began with the International Astronautical Federation Science & Academic Breakfast, setting the stage for a day of insightful knowledge sharing and discussions on the future of space exploration. The session was moderated by Tanja L. Masson-Zwaan, VP of Science and Academic Relations at the IAF and Assistant Professor at Leiden University. Speakers included Andrea Bianco, Senior Researcher at Brera Astronomical Observatory, INAF - Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, and Enrico Zappino, Executive Project Manager #IAC2024 from AIDAA - The Italian Association of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Associate Professor at the Politecnico di Torino. Throughout the day, participants engaged in discussions on groundbreaking technologies, including the session IAF GNF – Leveraging Generative Artificial Intelligence (#GenAI) for Enhanced Strategic Risk Management in Aerospace Sustainability. This session explored how GenAI can transform risk management and promote sustainability within the aerospace sector. The day started with the IAF IDEA 3G+ Diversity Breakfast, focusing on the crucial importance of diversity and inclusion within the space sector. Later in the day, attendees gathered for the International Astronautical Federation GNF Session: "The World Breathes: Restoring the Amazon," where representatives from Planet, ICEYE, the Norwegian Space Agency (NOSA), and the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB/MCTI) explored the pivotal role of space technology in safeguarding one of Earth’s most vital ecosystems, the Amazon rainforest. The excitement reached its peak with the highly anticipated unveiling of the #AxEMU spacesuit, a groundbreaking collaboration between Axiom Space and Prada Group. Designed for the #Artemis III mission, this spacesuit represents a major step forward in astronaut gear. It features advanced materials and enhanced mobility for the Moon’s rugged terrain, while combining functionality with innovative design thanks to Prada's involvement. The AxEMU will equip astronauts for humanity’s return to the Moon and future space exploration endeavors. The day concluded with the Young Professionals Networking Event, hosted by IAF WD-YPP, International Space University, and Space Generation Advisory Council. The day started with the plenary New #Lunar Frontiers: How the Non-Space Industry is Unlocking Future Markets, showcasing how industries outside the space sector are driving innovation in lunar exploration. Later, the focus shifted to The Value of Resources: Recipe for In-Situ Resource Utilization on Space Frontiers, exploring #sustainable strategies for using lunar resources. A key highlight was the #Euclid Mission European Space Agency - ESA: Unveiling the Universe lecture, where the latest images and discoveries from the Euclid space telescope provided valuable insights into dark matter and dark energy research. The International Astronautical Federation GNF – TED Talk: Triumph Over Trials – Personal Journeys Through Adversity inspired attendees with stories of resilience and overcoming challenges. These were just some of the key events that animated Day 2. The first day of #IAC2024 in #Milano kicked off with an exciting start. The day opened with the Opening Ceremony, graced by the presence of the President of the Italian Republic. Camila Raznovich hosted the ceremony, and we had the honor of hearing speeches from Erasmo Carrera for AIDAA - The Italian Association of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Roberto Cingolani for Leonardo, Teodoro Valente for Agenzia Spaziale Italiana, Clay Mowry for International Astronautical Federation, and Wanda Diaz Merced (Astrophysicist), alongside Adolfo Urso, the Italian Minister of Economic Development. We then witnessed key moments such as the VIP Tour and Ribbon Cutting, which officially opened the incredible exhibition area. Other highlights included the IAF GNF – Italians Do Eat Better: A Space Menu for a Healthy Body and Mind and the discussions on Responsible and Sustainable Space Exploration: Moon to Mars. Of course, no Italian experience would be complete without gelato, which was available throughout the venue, adding a delightful touch between sessions. #IAC2024 has officially concluded after five days of intense activities, remarkable moments, and record-breaking achievements, making it the largest IAC ever held. Organized by the International Astronautical Federation, hosted by AIDAA - The Italian Association of Aeronautics and Astronautics and co-hosted by Agenzia Spaziale Italiana and Leonardo, the event took place in #Milano from October 14th to 18th at the Allianz MiCo - Milano Convention Centre. What an incredible honor it has been to have the President of the Italian Republic with us during the opening ceremony of the 75th edition of the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Italy.
