🛰️ Our first satellite VanZyl-1 is in orbit and here's how it's helping the planet: The world faces unprecedented challenges—climate change, water scarcity, and the growing demand for food. Agriculture consumes the largest share of global water resources, and optimizing water use is critical for a sustainable future. At Hydrosat, we’re turning to cutting-edge technology to address these challenges. By leveraging thermal infrared imagery from satellites, we can detect water stress in plants and enable precision irrigation, saving water and improving crop yields. 🌱 Thermal imaging offers a unique advantage: it helps us measure evapotranspiration—the water used by plants through a process influenced by complex land-plant-atmosphere interactions. This critical data allows us to monitor water consumption, forecast crop yields, and even assess drought conditions in real-time. 🌎 Hydrosat's technology delivers global, high-resolution data, providing insights where other systems fall short. Our VanZyl-1 satellite, launched earlier this year, is a game-changer in delivering continuous thermal imagery for agricultural and environmental monitoring. 📽️ Check out this video from Pieter Fossel, Hydrosat's CEO and Co-founder, explaining how our technology works and why it’s essential in today’s climate landscape.

🛰 Using Space to Grow More Potatoes? 🌾 Just another day at Hydrosat! Recently, our Strategic Account Manager, Sam Bastiaanssen, teamed up with Daud Muñoz from Farmfront Group to assess the performance of center pivot irrigation systems on potato, barley, and sugar beet fields near Valladolid, Spain. These systems are critical to modern agriculture, but uniform water distribution is key. Uneven application can lead to under-irrigation or over-irrigation, both of which pose significant challenges: ▪ Under-irrigation: Crops don't receive the water they need, resulting in decreased yields and potential financial losses for farmers. ▪ Over-irrigation: Excess water can lead to water runoff, nitrogen leaching, and hinder crop growth, ultimately harming the environment and increasing energy costs associated with pumping excess water. By leveraging Hydrosat's solutions, Sam and Daud were able to evaluate how evenly water was distributed across the fields. This is crucial for maximizing crop yield and reducing waste. Their findings will help boost water efficiency for Southern European farmers, contributing to a more sustainable agricultural future. Together with Farmfront Group, we're committed to driving agricultural innovation and creating a resilient future for farmers across the region!
