🏆 HSG's annual retreat took place in Lake Placid, NY last week, site of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games. We brought the Olympic energy from Paris to Lake Placid and extended the fun through our own fun and games. 🥇 Our annual retreat is a important time for our team to get together and spend a few days together to bond, talk about what we're seeing in the field, and plan ahead for the year to come. This past year, we've had the honor to work with so many amazing clients--those new to value based care looking to understand this seismic shift happening in health care, those focused on implementing and improving on their value based contracts, work flows, and care pathways, and those who are ahead of the pack, blazing forward the future of what value looks like. Having eyes across all these types of value based health care helps us bring the best out of our clients and helps accelerate time to adoption for our clients. We're looking forward to the year ahead! Some highlights: matching bucket hats (duh!), judging our colleague's dives into Mirror Lake, participating in olympic-like contests, including a new Olympic sport of blind PowerPoint presenting--the rules are simple, you have to pick a deck you didn't create and present it to the group as though you composed the deck. Good luck, you might end up presenting on a topic you aren't totally confident about! 😆

A few years ago I had the honor of working on New York State's Medicaid transformation on both the care system delivery and payment reform side. This 1115 Waiver Update, summarized here perfectly by the team at HSG and the team of experts who were the actual architects of New York’s last 1115 Waiver, outlines the importance of state and federal partnerships to advance health equity, quality, and outcomes across the state. The main components of the waiver program are: - Health related social needs services and activities - Medicaid Hospital Global Budget Initiative - Workforce investments - Establishment of a Health Equity Regional Organization (HERO) - Alignment to two CMMI alternative payment models I'm excited to watch this wave of Social Care Networks transform healthcare across New York State, focusing on integrated primary care, regionally-focused value-based payment programs to provide the right care in the right setting, and statewide accountability for improving health, outcomes, and equity.
