H.O.M.E. (Housing Opportunities & Maintenance for the Elderly)

As summer draws to a close, it's time to start preparing for the colder months ahead. With H.O.M.E.'s Weatherization program, we offer FREE weatherization services for senior homeowners with low incomes. From reducing drafts to insulating windows, our program ensures seniors stay warm during harsh Chicago winters. Senior homeowners are eligible for our Weatherization program must be 62 years of age or older (55 or older if disabled), a homeowner and live south of North Avenue within the City of Chicago, and have no more than $1,200 a month in income (income/mortgage ratio is taken into account.) Today, #SCOTUS gave localities permission to punish unhoused community members simply for existing outdoors, even when there aren’t enough shelter beds available. Now, our leaders must truly lead, modeling meaningful solutions instead of cheap, cruel & unsustainable shortcuts that only obscure our problems at the expense of our most vulnerable neighbors. Homelessness is not a crime, it’s a policy choice. The only way to address homelessness is to house people and to keep people housed. #GrantsPassVJohnson
