Housing Visions is committed to providing opportunities for our team to consistently learn and grow through various conferences and trainings. This week our Marketing & Events Coordinator, Danielle Larkin, attended the NEIGHBORHOOD PRESERVATION COALITION OF NYS, INC annual conference in Poughkeepsie, NY. NPCNYS is a vast network of community-focused, non-profit housing organizations and key partners committed to revitalizing New York’s urban and suburban areas. Danielle was able to submerge herself in learning more about the various funding opportunities that NYS provides for affordable and supportive housing.

📣 Now announcing the live lottery for Creekside Landing in Syracuse, NY! 📣 🏠 Creekside Landing is part of Mayor Walsh's Resurgent Neighborhoods Initiative to build a stronger and better Syracuse through the development of high quality and affordable housing options revitalize city neighborhoods. The current application period and live lottery offers 23 units on Syracuse's South and Southwest side. 📆 Applications to be considered must be postmarked by December 4, 2024. The lights atop Moyer Carriage Lofts have been lit purple in recognition of October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month. 💜 Housing Visions has dedicated units and supportive services in Syracuse and across the state reserved specifically for survivors of domestic violence to begin their lives anew in a safe space. 💜 You are not alone. If you or someone you know is facing domestic violence, confidential help is available 24/7 through the National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-SAFE (7233). #DVAM #SupportSurvivors 💜 We all play a part in ending domestic violence. Check in on friends and loved ones, share resources, and offer a listening ear.

🛋️ Veteran Move-In Drive for Essential Household Items 🛋️ This is your chance to give back to those who have given so much! Our yearly Veteran Move-In Drive's goal is to collect essential household items to support Veterans in need. Every donation counts and makes a difference in their lives as they transition to stable housing with Housing Visions. This year we have added a new way to donate items through an Amazon Wish List which ships the items directly to our Case Managers in the CONNECT program! It’s conference season! Thank you NYSAFAH for another impactful Upstate New York Affordable Housing Conference last week in Buffalo. Housing Visions’ President & CEO, Ben Lockwood, presented on new financing structures, and key members of the leadership team left inspired to continue proposing innovative solutions to tackle the critical need for affordable housing across the state. It was an insightful day followed by a fun evening and a Bills win!

Housing Visions, along with our development partner ReDev CNY, are proud to announce that Moyer Carriage Lofts has been awarded one of the 2024 Excellence in Historic Preservation Awards from the Preservation League of NYS! Thank you to the Preservation League for recognizing this accomplishment and preservation of a property that is on the National Historic Register. “The nominations that came in for this year’s Awards were some of the strongest we’ve seen in the 40 years the League has run this statewide program,” said Preservation League President Jay DiLorenzo. “Our winners represent the many ways preservation can lift up communities, bring people together, and celebrate the diversity of our built and cultural heritage.”

Housing Visions is proud to support 100 Black Men of Syracuse's annual Winston Gaskin Community Walk for Health & Wellness. This event will be held on Saturday, September 28 at 9am at Kirk Park. Winston Gaskin was a founding member of Housing Visions, as well as the city's first black pharmacist, avid rosarian and community leader. All proceeds will benefit 100 Black Men of Syracuse's health and wellness initiatives.
