About us

With a focus on skill development, real-world job experience, and trauma-informed care, Hopeworks propels young adults into long-term living wage careers that put them on the path for healing and financial stability. Hopeworks is a social enterprise that uses technology, healing, and entrepreneurship to transform lives; on average, over 99% of young adults (aged 17-26) entering Hopeworks are unemployed, making less than $400 annually. Young adults completing the Hopeworks program make, on average, over $44,000 annually, with a 12-month retention rate of over 90% in their jobs. That is the Hopeworks difference. Our unique trauma-informed approach, combined with high-demand, high-wage technical training and paid work experience in Web Design and GIS helps young people not only get the job, but keep it, transforming their lives and the lives of their families. Hopeworks delivers long term outcomes, immediate poverty reduction, and opportunity in communities that are often sidelined by structural racism and poverty.

Meet Christian Bingham known as the artist Chase 215. He’s one of my students, and he loves making music; it’s his passion and hobby. He made $8.99 streaming his music last year. That didn’t lessen his enthusiasm one bit. His 2024 goal was to make a music project every day this year— continuing to push himself creatively. So far, he has exceeded that with over 450 projects. The number of people streaming his music is up, his revenue is up and he remains undeterred. It’s why he will be a huge success. Putting in time every day, gives other people a chance to call him an instant success once he arrives. But he knows the secret. It’s the daily focus that delivers. Christian is looking for an entry level tech job – IT or Junior Developer as examples. If you’ve got a job, check him out—it’s not every day you find employees with this type of grit. Follow Christian on Spotify here: https://lnkd.in/eztep5dR Meet Christian and other inspiring entrepreneurs at our Hopeworks pitch competition November 16 at 10AM at Rutgers in Camden. We are excited to announce that we are beginning another cohort of our EMT program! This program, and others like our Medical Assistant program, have been so successful in the past that several young adults have been hired directly into full-time jobs with medical providers 🚑 The participants will receive supervised clinical education in various hospital units and services, and all necessary safety equipment will be provided. At the completion of the program, young professionals will have the skills to render pre-hospital basic life support at the scene of an emergency, during transport of the sick and injured, or during inter-facility transfer within an organized emergency medical service system. This promising career pathway will lead to a ton of opportunities for all involved! ✨

Today we celebrate Dan Rhoton's 12 year Hopeworks Anniversary! Dan started out as our Director of Youth Development before taking over the program and propelling this organization to another level as an award-winning CEO! Through your leadership we have grown from a row home in North Camden to two locations - one now in Kensington 🚀 We've secured 100+ job placements last year for young professionals, established major partnerships with companies like Dell Technologies, Comcast, AmericanWater, Subaru of America, Campbell's, JPMorganChase, Seer Interactive, Truist, TD, Holman, Virtua, City of Philadelphia, City of Camden, Cooper University Health Care, Sixers Youth Foundation, Akamai Technologies, SofterWare, Inc., Citizens, CDW, Slalom, Elsevier, New Jersey American Water and more, plus gained local and national recognition and visibility for our work ✨ All of these things are made possible because you're always willing to step in, step up, and do the work. Your work ethic and commitment is impressive, but your ability to connect with everyone that walks through our doors is the key to success. Healthy company culture begins at the top and trickles down, and we couldn't ask for a better human to lead the way. Check out this first photo from 2013 in our old building in North Camden! Dan promised a trainee from our after school program (Hope Through School) that if he finally came on time and finished HTML 3, that he would do a handstand during the 6pm huddle the next day. Yes…we had two training programs back then! Well that motivated the trainee to come on time, work hard, and finish his module the next day. Just one example of keeping your word and going the extra mile - Congratulations Dan, and thank you for all that you do! ❤️💎
