Freddie's (name changed for privacy) journey through our ARISE program is a testament to the power of support and determination. As one of our first residents, Freddie embraced every opportunity, securing his apartment and becoming a cherished community member. He continues to stay connected with HopePHL, showing how caring mentors can make a lasting impact on young adults aging out of foster care. About us
HopePHL (pronounced Hopeful) is a newly formed social service organization for families, youth, and young children, experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Philadelphia. HopePHL was formed from two separate, but well known, social service organizations, People’s Emergency Center (PEC), and Youth Service, Inc (YSI), with 150 years of combined service experience. We provide a suite of programs, including: housing, advocacy and trauma-responsive social services that promote equity, resilience, autonomy and well-being, so people who need our services can achieve their goals, whether it’s a new home, a first job, enrolling in school, finding childcare, etc. Learn More at https://bit.ly/HopePHLInfo

Last week, the HopePHL Development & External Affairs team gathered for our annual two-day retreat! Thank you Jacqueline Flynn, our Vice President of Resource & Business Development, and to the staff of The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University for hosting our retreat. We dove deep into strategy, brainstormed exciting new projects, and engaged with volunteer speakers from Vanguard, Aramark, and Comcast (thank you Jessie Heckman, Shenelle Brooks, SHRM- CP, and Maletta Vance, Ed.D., who led workshops on everything from innovation and time management to building your personal brand and achieving work-life balance. But we didn’t just focus on work—we also took time to enjoy the exhibits and have some fun together. Moments like these remind us how essential fun is in building strong, effective teams. Shared experiences and laughter strengthen our bonds and fuel our collective passion and creativity. Here’s to another year of making an impact! 🌟💼🧠 #TeamBuilding #Innovation #WorkLifeBalance #HopePHL

Tanya (name changed for privacy) was first connected to HopePHL in 2021 at 13 years old after experiencing problems at school and home due to her parent's ongoing separation. She sought out a safer space at YES, and after residing with us for four months, Tanya reunited with her mother and continued receiving services at home. Tanya returned to YES in the 12th grade after more difficulty at home. She saw YES as a safe space to focus on her goals and feel supported. She went on to graduate with her high school diploma in 2024! Tanya says she appreciated the support from YES, even when it came to tough conversations and decisions. You can help.
