This week, along with Association of Community College Trustees, Jobs for the Future (JFF), and The Institute for College Access & Success, we joined 112 organizations calling on the Biden-Harris Administration to use all regulatory tools at their disposal to improve student food insecurity and expand access to SNAP: https://lnkd.in/e4DWmsBn Recently, the US Government Accountability Office found that two-in-three students likely eligible for SNAP are not receiving benefits. We call on USDA and the U.S. Department of Education to improve guidance, outreach, and other strategies to better connect students with support: https://lnkd.in/efgKWqtF

About us
The Hope Center at Temple University is an action research center transforming higher education into a more effective, equitable, and impactful sector using a powerful combination of applied scientific research, technical assistance and educational training services to colleges and universities, policy advising with state and federal governments and agencies, and strategic communications. We believe that students are humans first and that their basic needs (e.g. food, housing, childcare, digital access, transportation, mental health) are central conditions for learning.

We are so grateful to partner with leaders like Jennifer V. Nguyen, Dr. Zainab Okolo, LCMFT, and Kristin Boyer at the #edfunders24 Mental Health on the Ballot session to find the best strategies for supporting students. Mental health is a basic need—good policy can ensure that need is met. Honored to join Grantmakers for Education and friends at the #edfunders24 conference to dream big and creatively about college affordability, student basic needs, and transformation for a thriving democracy.

We teamed up with Minnesota State Colleges and Universities to survey their Basic Needs Resource Hub. The results mirror our student survey data: Basic needs support has significant positive impacts on students—but too often they don't know that support exists. https://lnkd.in/ez_C6SEC
