Operations & Workforce Development Leader | Driving Strategic Growth and Operational Excellence

Big News for Workforce Development This happened last month, but with the Holidays and everything else happening, I wanted to bring this back to the forefront of the conversation. "A Stronger Workforce for America Act Bill" passed its initial committee vote in a bi-partisan manner, and outlines transformative updates to the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). Nearly a decade after its enactment, WIOA is set to receive critical enhancements that promise to strengthen our workforce and bolster the economy. Here are some of my takeaways of the Bill. 🌟 Key Highlights: A whopping 50% of adult and dislocated worker funding will now focus on upskilling through individual training accounts, on-the-job learning, and employer-led initiatives. Displaced workers could receive ITAs valued at $5,000 for high-quality reskilling programs. States can create a "critical industry skills fund" to reimburse upskilling efforts in priority industries. Digital literacy is now a core component of adult education, emphasizing integrated education and training. 🔍 Accountability and Quality: The "eligible training provider list" will be streamlined to align with employer needs, focusing on employment outcomes. Performance indicators are updated to better evaluate program success, including labor market retention and effectiveness in serving employers. 🛠 Pathways to Opportunity: A new definition for "opportunity youth" will replace "out-of-school youth," dedicating 65% of youth funds to this group. Work-based learning for youth is emphasized, and ITAs are authorized for in-school youth skills development programs. 💡 Innovation for a Skills-Based Economy: A demonstration authority for states and local boards to receive Title I funds as a consolidated grant, promoting flexibility and innovation. Transparency on credentials awarded by eligible providers, including industry recognition and employment outcomes. This comprehensive update is a game-changer for workforce development, ensuring that our system is equipped to meet the evolving demands of today's economy. It's a step forward in connecting individuals to meaningful careers, reducing recidivism, and fostering a skills-based economy. Let's embrace these changes and work together to create a stronger, more skilled workforce for America! #WorkforceDevelopment #WIOA #SkillsEconomy #Innovation #EconomicGrowth #Upskilling #CareerDevelopment #WorkforceInnovation CompTIA Tech Workforce Solutions

Hey LinkedIn, I want to introduce you to Kennedy and her mom Ms Gibson. Kennedy is about to make HOPE Project history, she's going to be our very first visually impaired IT Help Desk student. I'll be posting about her journey when she starts class. They stopped by today to check out the class. My hope is that she can enroll in Walter L. Simmons, GCDF And EmployPrince George's KEYS program. #WeGonnaPutEverybodyOn

Walter Simmons post after another Prince George's County resident passed the CDL road test. It's my belief that the HOPE Project USA partnership with Employ Prince George's will become NATIONALLY recognized as the GOLD STANDARD for Workforce Development partnerships. The successful partnership will hopefully raise the bar for training providers and the agencies they partner with. There is nothing easy about training, coaching and mentor mostly non-degreed students in the DMV, our region is one of the MOST EDUCATED in the country. Our partnership is providing that when we work closely together, sharing ideas, resources, and put residents first EVERYBODY WINS.

I love seeing the HOPE Project Grads social media pages on Christmas day, I judge my professional success by how well the ppl I've trained, coached and mentored live. Together we've done what they said we couldn't do. We built our OWN way out of POVERTY. #HOPEisREAL

PLENTY of HOPE Project Grads received SNAP during their time in class. NOT A SINGLE ONE of them qualify now. In 2024 DC should go all in on high wage career training. Starting salaries at least $50k. And within 3 years the potential to get to $75k or higher. It saddens me to hear about this situation with SNAP. Having a high paying job is the answer now, it's been the answer the whole time. HOPE Project is here to help, not criticize.

HOPE Project is the DC's Crime and Violence Solution. We are waiting on the call from somebody, anybody in city leadership to implement our system. Mission Accomplished meet Herman Epps, this summer he saw my IG Post about CDL Training for DC Residents. At the time he was in the hallway house in Baltimore. Epps caught the train from Baltimore EVERYDAY, studied passed the CDL Learners exam. Got released from the Baltimore halfway house. Kept coming to class and yesterday THIS HAPPENED. Epps passed the CDL Road Test. Our CDL Lot Manager Alphonso Barnes connected him with one of our partners, He's going to drive for a company that will pay him $27hr.
