Our vision is to permanently transform lives and communities by ending homelessness.
About us
HOPE Atlanta is one of Georgia’s longest-standing nonprofit agencies dedicated to ending homelessness and hunger in our communities. With special programs for veterans, people living with HIV/AIDS, food-insecure people and families, and people at-risk of becoming homeless, we apply a holistic 1-1 approach to help clients secure the housing and resources they need to achieve self-sufficiency and thrive. We’re working to end long-standing misconceptions about poverty, hunger, and homelessness, elevating our clients’ voices and stories to bring increased attention and urgency to interconnected (and alarmingly widespread) issues of housing insecurity, hunger, and racial injustice. In the wake of the #SCOTUS Johnson v. Grants Pass decision allowing the criminalization of #homelessness, we expect an influx of people seeking refuge in #Atlanta. Our Chief Development Officer, Kellie Glenn, spoke to Atlanta News First about the ruling’s implications. Our commitment to meaningful solutions like housing, case management, behavioral health care, and outreach remains unwavering. Help us assist our unsheltered neighbors with the compassion they deserve. Give now at hopeatlanta.org. cc: Julio Carrillo

Being homeless is not a crime. No one should be punished for sleeping outside, especially when they have nowhere else to lay their head. Our unsheltered neighbors need housing, not handcuffs, and more policing only worsens the systemic inequality plaguing our communities. Despite the Supreme Court’s deeply upsetting ruling, we remain committed to assisting neighbors experiencing homelessness with individualized services that help them permanently overcome their circumstances. #Atlanta, let’s show the nation that compassion, innovation, and collaboration are the only ways to meaningfully address the #homelessness crisis. Visit hopeatlanta.org to learn how to get involved and make a difference.
Today, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a disappointing ruling stating that the U.S. Constitution does not protect people experiencing homelessness from cruel and unusual punishment. Arresting or fining individuals for homelessness is inhumane, expensive, and fails to address the root causes of the issue. Our outreach teams play a crucial role in our strategy, working tirelessly to reduce the criminalization of homelessness. By fostering personal relationships with our neighbors and building trust, our teams become vital resources for the community. As one of the largest outreach teams in Atlanta, we remain committed to collaborating with our partners and law enforcement to mitigate the impact of this ruling on the most vulnerable in our community. https://lnkd.in/e7zbw2Cp #Homelessness #CommunitySupport #Outreach #HumanRights #Atlanta

Jeffery Palmer recently celebrated 15 years with Hope Atlanta 🎉, but our co-director of housing was impacting lives long before he became an invaluable member of our team. Jeffery has been a social services provider for 40 years, and his passion runs deep. 🧡 “I desire to serve others,” he says. “That is my purpose.” Jeffery oversees a team that partners with Columbia Residential to provide supportive services to more than 1,000 residents transitioning from homelessness. 🏠 While he has seen our organization and Atlanta community evolve significantly over the years, his steadfast service and leadership have remained constant. Thank you, Jeffery, for your incredible compassion and dedication! ✨ cc: Julio Carrillo

LGBTQ+ individuals, especially youth, are overrepresented in the homeless population. They also face unique barriers to seeking help, like fear of harassment or trouble finding shelters that respect their gender identity. 💔 This month and every month, Hope Atlanta provides a safe space for our LGBTQ+ neighbors experiencing homelessness. As we celebrate #PrideMonth🏳️🌈, let’s work toward a future where everyone feels at home in their own identities and communities. cc: Julio Carrillo

Summer break can be difficult for families experiencing #homelessness or hunger since millions of Georgia kids lose access to school-provided meals. At Hope Atlanta, we’re seeing an influx of calls for help. Will you answer the call? Please consider donating to help us stock our community pantry to help meet our neighbors’ basic needs. 🥫🧡 Visit https://lnkd.in/egEsgGhX to make your gift today! cc: Julio Carrillo Sarina Marsh, LMSW Kellie Glenn

Thanks to Georgia's Own Credit Union for helping us kick off our Pack the Pantry initiative to prevent summer hunger! 🌞🥫 Along with helping us solicit donations of food and funds, our friends recently served hot meals to women and children and packed hundreds of non-perishable meal kits. 📦 Want to help individuals and families in need?
