It's always a pleasure partnering with Publix Super Markets associates who recently joined us for a day of service as part of its #PublixServes initiative. Together, we'll be able to provide #hunger relief to about 200 people in need thanks to their volunteer efforts, which included: 🍎 Assembling snack packs for our older adult neighbors 👩🍳 Serving 48 guests at the Women's Community Kitchen & Outreach Center 🥗 Providing lunch to 38 residents at The Melody 💳 Donating gift cards to our Outreach & Emergency Services Team to assist unsheltered clients Thank you for your compassion and longtime support of our mission! 🙌 cc: Julio Carrillo Vivien Dumford

Our vision is to permanently transform lives and communities by ending homelessness.
About us
HOPE Atlanta is one of Georgia’s longest-standing nonprofit agencies dedicated to ending homelessness and hunger in our communities. With special programs for veterans, people living with HIV/AIDS, food-insecure people and families, and people at-risk of becoming homeless, we apply a holistic 1-1 approach to help clients secure the housing and resources they need to achieve self-sufficiency and thrive. We’re working to end long-standing misconceptions about poverty, hunger, and homelessness, elevating our clients’ voices and stories to bring increased attention and urgency to interconnected (and alarmingly widespread) issues of housing insecurity, hunger, and racial injustice. This year at Heroes for Hope, we are proud to honor our first-ever Volunteer Hero of the Year: Cheryl Naja, a dedicated servant leader and a longstanding friend to our clients and organization. Cheryl’s commitment to helping others began early, volunteering with the Salvation Army alongside her mother. Her passion deepened while working in Downtown #Atlanta, where she befriended a courier named "Speedy," whose experiences with #homelessness deeply impacted her. Cheryl's dedication to supporting people experiencing homelessness grew, leading her to volunteer with local organizations and mentor women transitioning out of homelessness. “Surviving homelessness is hard enough,” Cheryl says. “But finding a way out without a holistic approach and ongoing support is nearly impossible. Many have lost family connections, and Hope Atlanta becomes that family.” In addition to serving on Hope Atlanta's board, Cheryl frequently volunteers at our Women’s Community Kitchen and inspires others to get involved. “If entire communities come together to share their time, talents, and treasures, we can transform our community,” she says. Thank you, Cheryl, for your tireless advocacy, volunteerism, and inspiring leadership. We look forward to celebrating you on October 9th! #Homelessness intersects with a myriad of other issues, including #hunger. Helping our clients transition from survival to self-sufficiency means not only providing a roof over their heads but also ensuring that all of their basic needs are met. Here’s how we’re incorporating hunger relief into our holistic support system this #HungerActionMonth and beyond! Interested in getting involved? ***Helene Update*** Our office is closed today as we remain under a flash flood warning. Our outreach teams have been hard at work providing our unhoused neighbors with essential items and resources to keep them safe, including assistance seeking shelter. Our Women’s Community Kitchen & Outreach Center was open during regular hours Thursday, assisting women and children with extra food to weather the storm and help finding a safe place to stay. Since 1900, we have provided a lifeline to those in need during crises, including people fleeing Hurricane Katrina, and remain committed to protecting our most vulnerable neighbors. You can support these efforts by donating essential items like ponchos, umbrellas, gloves, hats, snack packs, water, and more. Please consider shopping our Amazon wish list here: https://lnkd.in/e_YkTTxn Please stay safe, friends. 🧡 cc: Julio Carrillo

We can’t wait to honor this year’s Corporate Hero, QuikTrip, at our upcoming Heroes for Hope gala! Since its founding in 1958, QuikTrip has donated 5% of net profits to the communities it serves. In 2023, QuikTrip began investing above and beyond its historic donations by investing more than $7 million in several organizations throughout greater #Atlanta. QuikTrip gifted Hope Atlanta Atlanta $1.2 million in 2023 and renewed its partnership with a multi-year commitment in 2024. This dynamic partnership exemplifies how corporate citizenship can drive real, positive change, enabling us to acquire new staff and provide a critical lifeline for even more neighbors facing #homelessness. Besides being this year’s corporate honoree, QuikTrip is also supporting Heroes for Hope as a Title Sponsor! We’re humbled, grateful, and looking forward to celebrating our collective achievements on October 9th. We are thrilled to honor Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens as this year’s Individual Hero for Hope! A dedicated advocate for affordable housing and innovative approaches to addressing #homelessness, Mayor Dickens unveiled a bold new rapid housing initiative this year to address the ongoing crisis. The Melody, the first rapid re-housing development under this initiative, welcomed its first residents this year and is a testament to the power of collaboration. After the Supreme Court’s Johnson v. Grants Pass ruling permitting communities to criminalize homelessness, Mayor Dickens reinforced the City of Atlanta’s commitment to humane, sustainable solutions. Mayor Dickens also launched an LGBTQ Advisory Board this year; our CEO, Julio Carrillo, is a proud member. We are proud that, as the LGBTQ+ community faces threats from some institutions, the City of Atlanta is boldly standing for inclusivity and Hope. #Atlanta influences everything, and this year, in particular, has seen tremendous strides toward building a City of Opportunity for All. Thank you, Mayor Dickens, for your leadership and partnership! Learn more about #HeroesForHope2024 and how you can get involved here: https://lnkd.in/gM6hFsvZ

Georgia's Own Credit Union has long championed our #hunger and #homelessness relief initiatives, and this summer was no exception! We want to give a special thanks to this incredible team, who participated in 3 different #volunteer events at our Women’s Community Kitchen & Outreach Center. 🙌 In addition to volunteering over 45 hours and assembling 100 snack bags for our unhoused neighbors, Georgia's Own Credit Union also donated $5,000. We deeply appreciate your steadfast service and support of our mission! 🧡 cc: Julio Carrillo Sarina Marsh, LMSW Kellie Glenn
