🌞 🐢 This week we are embracing the meeting-free summer slowdown! This initiative aims to allow everyone to take a breather from meetings, get some heads-down time, and even recharge (most taking well-deserved PTO). We decided to clear calendars this week to allow employees to maximize their time away with fewer distractions or catch up on their to-do lists with a week's worth of focus time. To keep a pulse on employee well-being, our leadership consistently reviews our time off utilization and well-being initiatives to make sure that the ultimate goal of an engaged, productive, and supported team is met. We wish everyone a quiet and restful week!

🌈⚾ The Homies had an unforgettable time at the Houston Astros (Astros dominated of course 💅) game. Pride Night, held annually at Minute Maid Park, celebrates the Houston LGBTQ+ community with fun around the ballpark including a pregame happy hour and special pregame ceremonies. It was a wonderful opportunity for our employees to bond, share some laughs, build a stronger sense of community, and show support. A couple of weeks ago the Homies in Denver participated in an #InService Day with Habitat for Humanity International! 🛠 🏡 Learn more about our #InService Day credit here - https://shorturl.at/5kNo8 Habitat provides affordable paths to homeownership for low-income families across the US. They bought this 11-unit property and are converting it to be solar-powered! To the developers at Homebase and beyond, thank you for your hard work, perseverance, and passion. Here's some advice from our Homebase developers to women interested in tech/engineering. 1️⃣ Find your passion in engineering. Even if you're one of few women in the field, have confidence in your abilities. Don't let anyone make you feel like you don't belong. Success comes from pursuing what you love. If tech or engineering is your passion, go for it! 2️⃣ Just do it! Technology offers countless career paths and problem-solving opportunities. Combining tech skills with the leadership and communication strengths women bring is powerful and opens many doors. Seek out progressive companies that promote diversity and support women’s growth and development in their careers. 3️⃣ Reach out to the community! Many women in tech are ready to guide and mentor others. We are mothers, sisters, and friends who have been there and are here to support you. Even if you’re new to this field, you might be a perfect fit. Skills from other industries often apply to tech in unexpected ways. 4️⃣ Explore free coding resources online. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t immediately understand a problem. Focus on how you feel working through coding challenges. If you enjoy the process, it’s a good sign you’d enjoy a career in software engineering.
