University of Utah researcher Anna Docherty, Ph.D, in partnership with Dr. Chittaranjan Behera at the AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi) has received funding from The National Institutes of Health to carry out research on suicide death in under-represented populations. This study—which will help aggregate genetic data in order to improve the global generalizability of genetic and epidemiological studies of suicide death—will be only the second of this scale. It will build upon the largest-ever genetic study of suicide authored by Dr. Docherty in 2023. As Anthony May, PharmD, of #UofUHMHI says, "Remember, when in doubt, treat it as an overdose and call 911 and administer naloxone. Having naloxone on hand and knowing how to use it can make a life saving difference in an overdose situation." #TogetherWeCan #EndOverdose #IOAD2024 #utahnaloxone.
