At High Meadows School, we believe in the transformative power of play. Play isn’t just a break from learning—it’s an essential part of it—for our students aged 3 through 8th grade. Through play, children develop creativity, problem-solving skills, emotional resilience, and a deeper understanding of the world around them. 🌍💡 In our latest "Bird's Eye View" blog post, https://lnkd.in/egGjs5D4 Head of School & Camp, Lisa Baker, explores how play fosters curiosity, independence, and social growth, and why it’s more important than ever in today’s fast-paced world. We are also excited to announce that we will welcome author and professor of psychology and neuroscience Peter Gray to High Meadows School on September 17 at 6 p.m. Dr. Gray, whose research focuses on children's natural ways of learning and the value of play, will deliver a talk titled "An Exploration of Play, Independence, & Mental Health." This event is free and open to the public—everyone is welcome to join us for what promises to be an enlightening evening! Let's celebrate the joy of play and its role in shaping bright, capable, and happy children. #HighMeadowsSchool #BirdsEyeView #PowerOfPlay #PeterGray #ChildDevelopment #CommunityEvent

High Meadows School reposted this
It was so great to attend two of the High Meadows School & Camp 50th Anniversary events this weekend. https://lnkd.in/eGcJkNJS. Not only did our two children have the privilege of attending the school for a combined 15 years, but I also had the opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors for ten years. This weekend was a welcome trip down memory lane shared with great friends at the 40-acre wooded campus. From my first tour of the school when our oldest, Daniel, was ready for preschool, I knew this was a special and unique place for learning. I continue to believe that there are few, if any, schools that are as magical, impactful, or enriching as High Meadows School & Camp. Its founders, Jody Holden, Bill Crawford, Jay Dickerson, and Michael Drake, conceived the idea of a progressive school and summer day camp that would emphasize discovery and exploration in a multi-age learning environment. I am happy to see that High Meadows School has kept true to its core values over the nine years since our youngest son graduated in 8th grade. This weekend’s tagline says it all: “High Meadows Forever – est. 1973”. Congratulations to Lisa Baker, the staff, the volunteers, and the students who made it such a special weekend. #Education #Learning #Teachers
