"Without this essential caregiving, society would struggle to function,” said Ellen Reinhart, PhD, a postdoctoral scholar at Michigan State University and lead author of a new study by the American Psychological Association. “As the U.S. population ages, the 20% of Americans caring for an adult, most often a relative, will only increase in the coming years. To meet the growing demand for caregiving, we must value this vital labor,” Reinhart said. “We need to do more to recognize the personal and societal importance of helping people close to home in our everyday circles and investing in these local relationships. Caregiving, perhaps especially when unpaid and with little choice involved, is still a significant contribution.”

"Caregiving is only going to get more prevalent in the work space” - Melinda Izbicki from Mercer As referenced in this article by CNN, working caregivers navigate a lot. From tasks to finances to securing care to emotional support, Cleo shoulders this burden, so employers know their caregivers are being cared for.

Imagine your full-time employee had another full-time job on the side — one in which they earned $114,000 per year. Do you think that they'd be able to fully focus on working for you if they had zero support in fulfilling the duties of their other job? Caregivers of loved ones with Alzheimer's or other dementias would earn a six-figure salary — approximately $114,000 on average — if paid for the daily care they provide, reports a study conducted by Salary.com and Otsuka. 💰 Take a look at their findings:

"Imagine a couple in their early 70s—let's call them Naomi and Will. For years, Naomi has prepared every meal for Will. The joke among their friends is that, when it comes to the kitchen, all Will is good for is heating up a can of soup. But now, Will's memory has been slipping; he's forgotten how to turn on the stove. So Naomi must cook for him, because he simply cannot cook for himself anymore. Has Naomi suddenly become a caregiver, even though she is doing what she has done for years? She might not think so, but the work she is doing is certainly providing care to Will." This is such a family story to us: Many caregivers don't think of themselves as caregivers. And when you don't call yourself a "caregiver," you may miss out on specific benefits designed to support you. This article from RAND speaks to this specific #caregiving issue and is a must-read:
