HFS Chicago Scholars, founded in 1993, holds steadfast to its founding principle: given active support and educational opportunities, economically disadvantaged Chicago inner-city students can use the power of their minds and hard work to achieve success.
Mission:
Our objective is simple - long term success for our Scholars. HFS Chicago Scholars begins its 24th year, and our founding idea still holds strong - when given active support in a disciplined environment, Chicago high school students without immediate access to the keys to opportunity can use the power of their minds and hard work to achieve success. Due to our financial, academic and mentoring assistance, we walk hand-in-hand with each Scholar as they transform their aspirations into reality. In return, our Scholars promise to work hard to achieve their potential. Each time a child triumphs and succeeds, the HFS family shares and rejoices in this success. We grow, change, and prosper as one family.
Description:
We provide the following to our scholars:
Financial assistance to attend top Chicago private high schools.
One-to-one mentors from the young professionals community. Directors of Academics, at a 25 Scholars to 1 Director ratio, dedicated to each high school class and each Scholar's academic success.
Four-year written commitment specifying Scholar performance expectations, community leadership and service, academic enrichment opportunities, college visits, selection and admissions support.
