Congratulations to our chief innovation officer & Henry Ford Innovations VP Lisa Prasad on being named a 2024 Modern Healthcare Diversity Leader in Healthcare! Recent funding from the state and the creation of our new hospital-based doula program - the first of its kind in the country - is successfully expanding access to doulas for women of color. “We have the highest maternal and infant mortality rates, 2 - 3x higher,” explained Dr. D’ Angela Pitts, MD, FACOG, our maternal infant health equity director. “Having a doula — someone who looks like you that can advocate for you when you're not being heard — can decrease those adverse outcomes.”
