Nonprofit Baby Supply Bank of Georgia
About us
Helping Mamas is nonprofit organization in metro Atlanta. We are the baby supply bank of metro Atlanta. 1 in 3 moms has had to choose between diapers and food for their baby. Public Assistance programs don't allow for the purchase of diapers and other essential baby items. Helping Mamas solution is to collect and distribute essential baby items to organizations that serve women and children. We partner with high quality organizations that are working to move families out of poverty, by providing their clients with the essential baby items such as diapers, wipes, car seats, cribs, strollers, clothing and so much more. As the 2015 United Way Spark Prize Winner we have opened a 9,000 square foot warehouse to engage volunteers and collect items. We are proud members of the National Diaper Bank Network and Baby2Baby National Network. We are making sure that every diaper counts.

Did you know there are no federal assistance programs for diapers? And that 74% of families receiving diapers in GA have jobs but still can’t afford them? And that you can’t send your child to daycare without diapers therefore you miss work while paying for daycare if you don’t have them? Ten years ago Jamie Lackey saw this need and founded Helping Mamas, Inc. We helped distribute 2.2MM+ diapers last year. I’m honored to serve on this amazing organization’s board and help babies and families here in Georgia.

Athens Area Diaper Bank, Over the Moon in Savannah and the North Georgia Diaper Bank are all fantastic partners are we try to make sure no Georgia family struggles to afford diapers. Special thank you to Zoey C. with National Diaper Bank Network for helping us plan and organize such a successful day. Thanks to all of our fabulous board members who joined us as well! A big thank you and congratulations to the Helping Mamas Leadership Dawgs team! Our team placed second among 13 teams which helped us secure a $3,000 prize. This program supports UGA alumni to work in teams to execute a six-month Community Impact Project (CIP) aimed at supporting the needs of a Georgia-based nonprofit. Through this community engagement, Leadership Dawgs begin their journey to create an impact in their communities. The Helping Mamas team worked this past year to · Develop a community needs assessment for rural Georgia and metro Atlanta based on community/government data. · Research and identify potential clients/partners in rural communities based on need (underserved and under-resourced communities). · Develop strategies for expansion to include new mobile distribution sites. Special thanks to our team members Stephanie Mann, Anesia Sandifer, Emily Garmon, and Naome Seifu for all their hard work and commitment to the mission of Helping Mamas.
