HEELUXE, LLC's Time Machine Mileage Forecasting testing launched in 2023 to help brands benchmark the durability of their shoes against a database of their competitors. Years of working with multiple experts from the world of shoe testing helped produce this testing process. The data on shoe fit is so powerful. It's an honor to share it with the Aetrex, Inc. international sales meeting this week. While HEELUXE, LLC has been quantifying shoe fit for over 10 years, the amount we are learning is accelerating at an amazing rate with SmartLast. Spring is here and there is a lot of buzz about testing Hiking Boots. Here's the tips you'll need to set up the best testing for you new Hikers. 1: If your customers are going up and down hill, test them on hills! That's why we built our "Heeluxe Hill" over 12 years ago to collect data that is most valuable to your team. 2: Stability and Impact protection are important on downhills, while acceleration/propulsion are important for uphill. All of these measurements come from our Force Plate. 3: NO MORE BRUISED TOES! Dont neglect fit testing for hiking product. Fit around the instep is critical for low and mid tops to prevent the foot from sliding forward in the shoe and bruising the toes. On taller shaft boots, ankle fit is more important in stopping toenail loss. The fit of Hiking boots can be measured quickly with the SmartLast system. 4: If you customers will use the boot with a pack, then test with a pack! Wearing a 30-50+ pound backpack dramatically changes how a shoe performs. Thats why we always test backpacking boots with and without a pack.
