The Season of Our Freedom - זמן חירותנו   Organizational Passover messages often focus on the upcoming holiday’s identification as חג המצות (the Holiday of Matzah), חג הפסח (the Holiday of the Passover Offering), or חג האביב (the Holiday of the Spring), highlighting the critical values of Jewish ritual and renewal. However, our ancestors also called this holiday זמן חירותנו (the Season of Our Freedom), understanding this festival as the opportunity to remain in relationship with past liberation and to inspire future opportunities for freedom and redemption. During this terribly challenging time for our people, this dimension of the holiday as the season of our freedom calls us to the work that must be done to free the hostages, free the people of the State of Israel from attacks, conflict, and violence, and free the Jews of the Diaspora from acts of hate. We at Hebrew at the Center believe that a critical element of such work derives from Jewish education that effectively strengthens Jewish identity and pride, commitments to Jewish peoplehood and our homeland, and competency in Hebrew language and culture that creates a shared language among global Jewry. As we once again gather around our holiday tables and celebrate this freedom while acknowledging those that are not yet free, we wish everyone a meaningful and truly liberating Passover, hoping this holiday is followed by a time of true freedom for all.   חג כשר ושמח The Team at Hebrew at the Center

Why is Dr. Orna Oryon excited about Hitkadmut? Join Orna for a creative workshop for teaching Hebrew through intelligences that exist within us (according to Gardner’s theory). In the interdisciplinary workshop, see how the body, senses, and imagination are given expression and learn how to impart knowledge through a combination of arts in a holistic and fun way. By learning these methods, you will be able to teach children a language in a tangible way that will excite all the senses.
