About us
We’re a Los Angeles-based game studio dedicated to building games with engaging stories in beautiful, vibrant worlds. Our focus is gameplay that’s engaging, fluid and fun. We created the award-winning game Hyper Light Drifter and are working on the upcoming title Solar Ash. https://twitter.com/heartmachineHQ http://instagram.com/heartmachineHQ As a studio, we’re immensely excited to be creating things we love every day. Although we are all passionate and work incredibly hard, our studio is not a crunch-factory - we like to live our lives, have holidays, and remain healthy throughout a project. We’re supportive of a diverse working environment - different life perspectives offer a lot to building a better game, studio and understanding of one another. We’re looking for talented, motivated, smart, highly communicative, diverse and just plain good people to become part of our crew, to collaborate, shape and build something ambitious and unique.

Appreciate all the work (and follow-ups) that went into this, and ty Tom Tomaszewski pulling Heart Machine in to be a part of this! Hyper Light Drifter is currently 60% off: https://lnkd.in/e5wGN6Fd
Still don't know how we pulled it off, but our Steam sale celebrating Independent Games Festival is live since yesterday and it's been a blast! Our, I mean as in Crunching Koalas - we "invented" it, organized it together with Independent Games Festival and livestreamed in front of hundreds of thousands of players while being featured on the main page of the biggest game store on the planet, having games like FEZ, Stanley Parable or Darkest Dungeon 2 participating in the event, and while dying from heat that decided to fry Warsaw in the last couple of days. The sale is going to be around for a couple more days, so check it out at https://lnkd.in/duxEcZ_d or go to our YT channel to check out the recording of our livestream: https://lnkd.in/dETyCp2t Phew, what a 24 hours it's been! PS. Thanks for the support to everyone I've been poking about this for the last few weeks! Lukasz, Piotr, Sara, Kristy, Amulya, Christopher, Ben, Yiyi, Pontus, Casey, Jon, Xavier, and everyone else!

What a week it’s been! Just want to reflect on the week, and say thanks to a lot of folks before I’m out exploring Japan (for the first time!) for a bit. - On Monday, announced Gearbox Publishing San Francisco (previously Perfect World Entertainment) is now Arc Games! 🎮 It’s the same team, people and games, but with a new name and look. Many, many thanks to the whole team who worked on this rebrand. Excited for what’s to come. - Gigantic: Rampage Edition launched on Tuesday! 💯 It’s absolutely an honor to play a role in helping Gigantic make such a huge comeback after it was shut down 6 years ago. From announcing Gigantic: Rampage Edition back in February and lining up a slew of hands-on previews and development team interviews to go live on announce day, to landing exclusive reveals, leading up to launch and of course, launching the game and seeing it make the top of the Top Sellers list on Steam — the campaign was seriously so awesome. Making Gigantic: Rampage Edition — a massive passion project for me and so many — a reality was a gigantic team effort through and through, so huge shout out to everyone (abstraction, Motiga (developer of the original Gigantic), Arc Games, and so many others) who helped make it happen. - Hyper Light Breaker was featured in the first-ever, Triple-i Initiative, a collaborative, indie dev showcase, on Wednesday! 🙌 For the showcase, we revealed a new mini-boss trailer and it was great to see Hyper Light fans excited to take a look at more gameplay. Such an awesome opportunity to be a part of something so special in the indie game space, and would like to thank the Evil Empire team for featuring Hyper Light Breaker (and major kudos to the Heart Machine team for helping with the trailer and of course, creating Hyper Light Breaker!) - Remnant II: The Forgotten Kingdom DLC was announced today! 😄 This is the 2nd DLC for Remnant II and like the 1st one, I can’t wait to jump into it. We had media outlets get a hands-off first look at DLC and how it’ll expand the beautiful world of Yaesha — and they were able to share their hands-off preview coverage today. The buzz from today’s announcement has been incredible, and I’d like to sincerely thank the Gunfire Games team for helping make the previews happen!

On a journey to help people through the power of games 🎮 | Ex-Corporate Counsel at Gearbox Entertainment | Adjunct Professor of Video Game Law and Business at the University of Miami
If you see "Gearbox Publishing" as a past employer come across your desk for any job applications, please know that it means something special. Every person I've had the pleasure of working with at Gearbox Publishing carries with them drive, kindness, a strong sense of personal responsibility, and sheer love for the industry and the products we've worked on. Not a JIRA ticket or email went by that I didn't feel the enthusiasm radiating from these amazing individuals for the dev studios we supported along the way. Gearbox Publishing was special in my eyes. It aimed to be "the most developer-friendly publisher in the world." I carried that mantra as I worked on those very publishing deals that would give indie teams a shot at getting their games both the funding and support they needed to realize their creative vision and create kickass experiences for players. The hardworking folks at Gearbox Publishing ALL carried that mantra to bring those games to market, with not only grit but also compassion. From beginning to end, inception to execution. They cared about the games we published. They really did. Risk of Rain, Homeworld, Godfall, Tribes of Midgard, Eyes in the Dark, Blanc, Relic Hunters Legend. Just a few of the publishing titles I've worked on closely with the rest of the stellar Gearbox Publishing team. So to anyone reading this: please know that the individuals let go as a result of Gearbox Publishing closing down due to the Gearbox/Take-Two deal get my recommendation wherever they apply. A whole host of amazing people, from marketing to comms to user research, are now back on the market; and any company would be LUCKY to have them. If you want to know more about any of these fantastic teammates, please reach out. I'd love to gush about how great they all were to work with, and what a beautiful team dynamic we all shared. And to my friends in Gearbox Publishing reading this: this is not your fault. This is somebody else's fault. This is NO reflection on you or your capabilities. As the games industry has proven for the last year, sometimes a layoff is as impersonal as a number on a spreadsheet. You ARE amazing, your job title does NOT define you, and you ARE capable of so much more than what you've already accomplished at this lovely publishing house. Please believe in yourself. And if you can't believe in yourself at this moment? Well...in the words of the great Kamina: "Don't believe in yourself. Believe in the me that believes in you!" And I believe in all of you! We all do! ❤️ ------------------ original TTGL anime scene where Kamina says the iconic phrase: https://lnkd.in/gHAuDxwi
