Mental Health Awareness Month is here and we want everyone to know it's okay to ask for help! The stigma around mental health and treatment has long existed, even though this has started to change. Still, people hesitate to seek help or even talk about it with their loved ones for fear of being judged and facing unnecessary backlash. We seek treatment to get better if we are hurt physically...this mindset should be practiced around mental health as well! We want to remind you, that you are not alone. April is child abuse awareness month. Learn with us this month how we can recognize and stop the cycles of abuse. Child abuse occurs at every socioeconomic level, across ethnic and cultural lines, within all religions, and at all levels of education. The child abuse awareness campaign challenges us to learn the importance that awareness and education play, in recognizing the signs of, and helping to prevent child abuse. working together to prevent child abuse and neglect. We all play a vital role in promoting the social and emotional well-being of our children.

Today is the start of World Autism Acceptance Week. This is an opportunity for people everywhere to focus on a greater understanding of autism, and to challenge perceived notions of what it means to have autism. Autism is one of the most misunderstood conditions on the planet. To many people it's just being a bit antisocial, or only enjoying their own company. It's a common misconception that autism is obsessing over a toy or topic, or that a person with autism has to have everything a certain way. The truth is that it’s all, many and none of these things - in addition to many more complex physical, emotional and mental needs. Autism a spectrum and no two individuals are the same.
