  • Mental Health Awareness Month is here and we want everyone to know it's okay to ask for help! The stigma around mental health and treatment has long existed, even though this has started to change. Still, people hesitate to seek help or even talk about it with their loved ones for fear of being judged and facing unnecessary backlash. We seek treatment to get better if we are hurt physically...this mindset should be practiced around mental health as well! We want to remind you, that you are not alone. If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis help is available, 24 hours a day 7 days a week. If you or someone you know is needing assistance, please call the crisis hotline at 1-877-466-0660. We are here for you. #mentalhealthawarness

  • April is child abuse awareness month. Child abuse occurs at every socioeconomic level, across ethnic and cultural lines, within all religions, and at all levels of education. 1 in 7 children have experienced child abuse or neglect in the past year in the United States. This is likely an underestimate because many cases are unreported. If you see something, say something. A child's life depends on it. #EndChildAbuse #awareness

  • Today is the start of World Autism Acceptance Week. This is an opportunity for people everywhere to focus on a greater understanding of autism, and to challenge perceived notions of what it means to have autism. Autism is one of the most misunderstood conditions on the planet. To many people it's just being a bit antisocial, or only enjoying their own company. It's a common misconception that autism is obsessing over a toy or topic, or that a person with autism has to have everything a certain way. The truth is that it’s all, many and none of these things - in addition to many more complex physical, emotional and mental needs. Autism a spectrum and no two individuals are the same. This week we encourage you to learn and connect with someone who is on the spectrum to understand more about these incredible individuals as we continue to work toward inclusion, acceptance, and understanding. #worldautismawarenessweek2024 #autismacceptance #autism #neurodiversity #inclusion #autismawareness #InclusionMatters #hillcountrymhdd #hillcountryheroes

  • It’s Developmental Disability Awareness Month! Developmental disabilities can affect a person's ability to communicate, learn, socialize, and complete daily tasks. They can range from mild to severe and may be caused by a variety of factors, including genetic conditions, environmental factors, and prenatal exposure to substances. This month is a time to honor the developmentally disabled and to bring awareness to a group who are just as intelligent, capable, and strong as other able-bodied Americans. So, let’s celebrate the diversity and unique strengths of individuals with developmental disabilities. By recognizing their talents and abilities, we can break down stereotypes and promote a culture of inclusion. #inclusionmatters #DDAM2024 #hcmhddc
