  • #DYK? Gynecologic cancer is any cancer that starts in a woman’s reproductive system. Each gynecologic cancer is unique, with different signs and symptoms, risk factors and prevention strategies. The five main types are cervical, ovarian, uterine, vaginal and vulvar cancer. It’s Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month, and we’re sharing common symptoms. If you notice or are concerned about any of these, seek medical attention right away. During your annual well-woman visit, your doctor can check for gynecologic cancer with HPV testing and Pap testing. Talk to your doctor about how often you should be tested based on your age, personal history and risk factors. Need to make an appointment? • Learning more about how HCA Healthcare invests in the future of nursing, Florida State House Representative Sam Garrison and Florida Senator Jennifer Bradley (both pictured checking on a Sim Lab manikin "patient") visited our HCA Healthcare Center for Clinical Advancement at UNF on Old Baymeadows Road, earlier in the week, to familiarize themselves with our state-of-the-art nurse training facility. HCA Florida Memorial Hospital's leadership was on hand including HCA Florida Memorial Hospital CEO Reed Hammond, Chief Financial Officer Drew Hartmann and Chief Nursing Officer David Threatt. The Center provides nursing students with an immersive learning environment that closely replicates real-world clinical settings with the use of AI-integrated mannequins, advanced medical equipment, and realistic patient care scenarios. Students gain hands-on experience in a variety of clinical situations in a safe and controlled environment. Both government officials were provided with a tour of the facility by HCA Sim Lab manager Marissa Goodson and Clinical Education Director Jennifer Jacobsen. HCA Florida Healthcare #raisethebar

  • Donald Amato has been in our hospital for over a month, coming to us for an orthopedic procedure that required him to stay non-weight bearing for a period of time. He is currently going through progressive orthopedic-rehab with Alissa and Max by his side - and today they helped him experience sunshine therapy. “Woooh! I’m so happy to see him outdoors,” said Donald’s wife Sue Amato. “It’s so refreshing for him. The care has been great and he even enjoys the food! Everyone has gone above and beyond.” For Donald, he says, “The people here (at HCA Florida Memorial Hospital) are fantastic. So caring to bring me out here. The respect shown to me as a patient is over and above kindness and thoughtfulness. Everything has just been fantastic.” Donald said that he enjoys the shade, so parking his wheelchair in a shady spot made for a perfect day for him and his wife Sue. Get better Donald…so you can walk outside to find your own shady spot soon! Please join us in wishing him a speedy recovery by showing Donald you care by liking this story. For all your orthopedic needs, HCA Florida Memorial Hospital is proud to have earned Healthgrades America's Best 100 Orthopedic Surgery hospitals for two years in a row.
