  • A CARE NETWORK AS STRONG AS THE WOMEN IT SERVES. Breast cancer is the second most common cancer among women in the United States, and the second leading cause of cancer death in women after lung cancer, according to the American Cancer Society. As a Case Manager, Erica Aylward knows that there are better treatment options and a greater chance of survival if breast cancer is detected at an early stage. Women who familiarize themselves with their breasts and get regular screenings can increase their odds of detecting breast cancer before it becomes more difficult to treat. • Helping people when they’re sick, vulnerable and need help. Jill reflected on her most significant influence, her mom. She had carpel tunnel surgery, and Jill was able to see how therapy helped her mom return to doing what she loved. She decided that was the career for her. “Over the years, it solidifies how your profession can help. When your grandparents are aging, and you can give professional input, it makes you feel good,” said Jill Clark. “Englewood Hospital is a special place to work because it is a small setting where you get to know everyone, and it becomes like a family.” "There is so much good to do in the world and so many different ways to do it." - Dr. Thomas Frist, Sr., HCA Healthcare Co-Founder. • During a routine day at home, Kimberly Cansler, a 44-year old mother of nine children, suddenly felt her leg go numb. "I started hysterically crying at that point because I knew I was having a stroke," said Kimberly. She is the director of HCA Healthcare at Home, a service that provides home health expertise and resources for patients as they transition to care outside the hospital setting. Given her role in healthcare, she recognized the symptoms immediately and knew she was having a stroke. Stroke is the number five cause of death and a leading cause of disability in the United States. Early stroke detection and treatment are vital to improving survival, minimizing disability and accelerating recovery times. She dialed 911 and received care at HCA Florida Englewood Hospital. “I had a nurse named Olga. She gave me the power to push through it and gave my daughter peace of mind,” said Cansler. She recently had an opportunity to reunite with members of her care team. “To be able to go back and see them again, show them what they did for me, and thank them brought tears to my eyes.” Hear the story of Kimberly’s full recovery after stroke and her advice for others https://bit.ly/3X6zVSp If someone you know is experiencing signs of a stroke, face drooping, arm weakness or speech difficulty, don’t delay care, call 911. #HCAFloridaHealthcare #WeAreHCAFloridaFamily
