  • Happy Physician Assistant Week! At HCA Florida Capital Hospital and across our larger HCA Healthcare network, we are proud to celebrate physician assistants (PAs) for their dedication to the patients and communities we serve. PAs are licensed, highly trained clinicians who practice medicine in every specialty and work closely with physicians to provide medical care and guidance to patients. In their role, they conduct physical exams, develop treatment plans, counsel on preventative care and more. Thank you to the PAs across our organization for your commitment to the care and improvement of human life. We celebrate you today and every day. #HealthierTomorrows #PAWeek

Last night, Hurricane #Milton struck Florida’s west coast as a Category 3 hurricane, bringing powerful winds, rain and flooding as it moved through the state early this morning. The severe weather events have produced widespread damage and power outages across many communities that HCA Florida Healthcare serves. Ahead of the storm, our HCA Healthcare colleagues came together to prepare our facilities for potential impact by prepositioning construction materials and stationing remediation teams onsite at our hospitals. Additionally, HCA Healthcare's Nashville-based Enterprise Emergency Operations Center (EEOC) worked with our Emergency Medical Services partners to transport patients from high-risk areas to other facilities for safety. We’re continuing to assess the needs of our hospitals and we’ll continuously work to ensure critical resources like generators, fuel and water are positioned in impacted areas. During the storm, our HCA Florida Healthcare family showed remarkable dedication, reassuring patients, ensuring safety, and delivering continuous care. We are thankful for their courage, compassion and unwavering commitment to our patients and the communities we serve in the face of Hurricane Milton. Our thoughts and hearts are with everyone affected. In the coming days, we will rebuild together. An updated list of the status of each site of care in the HCA Florida Healthcare network is available here: https://bit.ly/3Y5dc9Z ➡️ As impacted areas of Florida begin the process of assessing damage and restoring, it is our priority to take care of our patients as well as each other. The HCA Healthcare Hope Fund is a colleague-run, colleague-supported 501(c)(3) charity that helps HCA Healthcare families through unexpected crises, disasters and other challenging situations. Today, HCA Healthcare announced that we will contribute $1 million through community organizations to aid in Hurricane Helene relief efforts in North Carolina. On Thursday, September 26, Hurricane Helene made landfall as a powerful category 4 hurricane, leaving more than four million people without power and causing major damage as it traveled throughout the Southeast. When the storm hit Asheville, North Carolina, it brought heavy rainfall, strong winds and widespread flooding that resulted in loss of life, significant damage and power outages. HCA Healthcare operates seven hospitals and has thousands of colleagues in western North Carolina, many of whom were affected by the storm and its aftermath. In response, HCA Healthcare is contributing $250,000 to the United Way of Asheville & Buncombe County to help with immediate natural disaster response and long-term support for flood victims. We will also give $250,000 to the American Red Cross North Carolina to help support its shelter locations. An additional $500,000 will be donated to other community partners that provide direct support for hurricane-related issues. “Caring for those in their time of need is our greatest calling at HCA Healthcare, and I am deeply moved by the resilience and compassion of our colleagues,” said Sam Hazen, chief executive officer of HCA Healthcare. “It is our honor to support organizations like United Way and the American Red Cross to help our western North Carolina communities through Hurricane Helene and its aftermath.” Learn more about HCA Healthcare’s response and relief efforts: https://bit.ly/4eMg4PD. #HCACares #CareLikeFamily
