As the month comes to an end, we recognize September as both Hunger Action Month and Disaster Preparedness Month. Natural disasters in the U.S. are becoming more unpredictable, and it’s important to prepare for a sudden emergency. Ensuring your ‘ohana has enough shelf-stable food and water is essential. 1 in 3 households in Hawai‘i continue to struggle with hunger daily. And for many families, fresh fruits and vegetables are the first items to fall off their grocery lists. More than one quarter of the food Hawai‘i Foodbank distributes is fresh, healthy produce — and you can help us provide even more. When you give now through Food Drive Day on Aug. 24, our partners at First Hawaiian Bank will generously match your gift up to $50,000. Not only that, you’ll also be automatically entered to win four (4) General Admission tickets to HONOLULU Magazine’s Hale ‘Aina Celebration presented by First Hawaiian Bank and Mastercard.

It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since the catastrophic wildfires took place on Maui. So much has happened in that time, and we wanted to take a moment to pause, reflect and honor all those impacted by the painful events. It was incredibly humbling to work alongside @MauiFoodBank and so many other partners and community members during the response efforts. In disasters, necessity and a shared sense of service bring people together in unprecedented ways. At Hawai‘i Foodbank, we get to see the best of humanity, people helping people through some of our darkest times. Through blue skies and gray, our community’s aloha always shines through. 🔗 Visit our Hunger Blog to read the full message from Amy Marvin, our president and CEO. https://lnkd.in/g9nniJYX

Nourishing Neighbors turns 10 today! A lot of you may be familiar with the convenient check-out program at our local Safeway locations – which makes it easy for shoppers to make a donation in support of their local food bank. At Hawai‘i Foodbank, donations help provide keiki, adults, kūpuna and families with the essential nutrition we all need to thrive. 🧡 A huge mahalo to our partners, Safeway and the Albertsons Foundation, for their enduring support – as well as the delightful cake that made today even sweeter. 🎂 #NourishingNeighbors10

Today is #RedNoseDay! We’re standing with Comic Relief US to help build healthy futures for our keiki in Hawai‘i and across the globe. 🧡 Mahalo to partners like Red Nose Day and Feeding America for helping us put meals on plates and smiles on children’s faces. We are grateful to be a recipient of their Child Hunger Grant, which helps support our local Food 4 Keiki programs. Join us today in making a difference — every bit helps! #ComicReliefUS #EndChildPoverty #HawaiiFoodbank

Mahalo to everyone who helped us Stamp Out Hunger this last Saturday! 🧡 Hundreds of volunteers and local partners gathered at our warehouse throughout the evening, where we received nearly 125,000 pounds in food donations from all across O‘ahu. On top of that, we also received more than $26,000 in online donations – a combined total that will provide food for nearly 160,000 meals. The annual National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC)' Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is the nation's largest all-volunteer, single-day food collection effort. Every year, we are humbled to witness how the community comes together for this event, and we are incredibly grateful to all of our local partners who make it happen. #NourishOurOhana #FoodAssistance #Volunteering #StampOutHunger #CommunityService
