Last month, a group of HHYC singers had the special honor of singing at naturalization ceremonies at the John Joseph Moakley Courthouse in Boston. Our young singers volunteered to sing renditions of the National Anthem, America the Beautiful, and My Country ‘Tis of Thee, and welcomed new citizens during the ceremony. Bravo, Nicholas, Zachary, Oscar, Margo, Norah, Connie, Andrew Milne (conductor), and Madison! Know a young person passionate about singing? HHYC enrollment is now open: bit.ly/Join-HHYC-24

The Handel and Haydn Youth Chorus have arrived in Austria, and just finished a performance in the iconic Salzburg Cathedral! The site of Mozart's baptism, HHYC performed a program of selections from the H+H Old Colony Collection, works by Florence Price, and Negro spirituals. These young singers are booked for the week! Later today they’ll have a performance at Melk Abbey. Tomorrow in Vienna, they'll have a collaborative concert with the Hegelgasse School Choir at St. Elisabeth Church, and an evening concert at Capuchin Church. Their last performance will be this Friday at the historic Esterházy Palace, where Haydn rose to fame. Break a leg, HHYC!

Happy Juneteenth, Boston! On this important day celebrating freedom and liberation, we remember that the Emancipation Proclamation did not have immediate effects during the Civil War. On June 19th, 1865, Union troops prevailed to victory in Texas enforcing the Emancipation Proclamation and from that joy and celebration, Juneteenth was born. Today, more than 200 years later, we celebrate this holiday with joy and also remember the work before us to create a more perfect union with liberty and justice for all!
