Last August, Hamilton County Commissioners voted to provide $1.5 million in ARPA funding to develop state of the art facilities and learning opportunities as well as cover scholarships for underrepresented nursing students. Today, we watch this partnership come to fruition as Commissioners and Cincinnati State Technical and Community College held a ribbon cutting on the new nursing education lab on Cincinnati State's campus.
The Hamilton County Office of Small Business (and partners from Alloy Development Co. ) spent the morning in Mount Healthy going around to small businesses. This door-to-door blitz helped us to meet these business owners where they are, get to know them, and make connections!
Public service isn't just a job - it's a lifestyle. Rycca Thacker, a County employee in our Facilities Department, has stepped up to help those in need in Asheville, NC following the devastation left by Hurricane Helene. Between 10 trips to/from Asheville with supplies, and now collecting toys for displaced youth, Rycca and her family are heroes in our book. https://lnkd.in/gRdDxHpz

Hamilton County Commissioners alongside partners from the City of Cincinnati, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown’s Office, State of Ohio Representatives, the Hamilton County, Ohio Sheriff's Office the Hamilton County Engineer, the Villages of Lincoln Heights, Evendale, Woodlawn, Colerain Township, and various local residents and health organizations, celebrated the groundbreaking of the Hamilton County Regional Safety Complex. This initiative marks a historic step in relocating the Cincinnati Police Department (CPD) firing range, which has operated in Evendale since 1947.
Tackling big topics at the 2024 Ohio Pay Equity Summit on Thursday. A big thank you to the Hamilton County Commission on Women & Girls, The Women's Fund of Greater Cincinnati, and Ellequate for this forum of amazing speakers, and to the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber for hosting! Employers learned more about steps they can take to ensure equal pay and leveling the playing field.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an annual international health campaign and is an important initiative for our Board of County Commissioners. Every year, Commissioners hold a reception to honor survivors, ally organizations, and the people championing the fight against breast cancer in Hamilton County. Today, we honored them with a proclamation for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and will have County buildings illuminated pink! 🩷 Commissioners also championed bringing the UCHealth Mammography bus to the County Campus to provide direct access to mammography services to our employees.
