Nobody knew what to expect when the heads of two of California’s most sought after Cannabis brands sat down to dialogue for the first time. Especially since it was happening live on stage, as part of Hall of Flowers ICONOCLASTS speaker series. “I have a lot of admiration for CBX,” Ted Lidie, founder of Alien Labs, said right at the outset of his ‘Ted Talk’ with Cannabiotix founder Neema Samari. Setting a tone of mutual respect that expanded as they compared their career trajectories from the legacy cannabis world to the top of the regulated market. “To be honest with you, my start in all this was more as a smoker and someone who moved packs,” Neema began his origin story. He then described financing some very small grows among his friends in the surfing/skating community of Santa Monica. When they “took Ls,” he had to take over, and that’s how he moved into cultivation. Both Ted and Neema have built large brands while maintaining a reputation for consistently developing the kinds of heat strains that turn connoisseurs’ heads. That’s only possible because they continually engage in intensive research and discovery efforts in search of the elite varieties among their breeding stock. For both of these busy executives, that means keeping up a vigorous Cannabis testing schedule. Neema described smoking a couple of grams of flower a day for the last 24 years (minus a few tolerance breaks). While Ted confirmed it can be a struggle to keep up on all his “homework,” as Alien Labs tests 5,000 seeds a year, representing 2,500 phenotypes. Fortunately, the outdoor speaker stage at Hall of Flowers Santa Rosa was located right next to the onsite consumption area, so after their session wrapped up, both entrepreneurs could get right back to work. #hallofflowers #cannabisindustry #cannabiscommunity

From sharing the stage with OG weed legend Ed Rosenthal to sampling California’s finest cannabis, Dope as Yola definitely made the most of his trip to Hall of Flowers Santa Rosa this year. “We just ate at a restaurant inside a cannabis event, and it was bomb,” he says in the video, after stepping out of the Sonoma Hills Farm culinary experience. “Shout out to Hall of Flowers. Now let’s go taste some dabs…” Notably, our recent ‘Cannabis Market & Festival’ wasn’t his first HOF event. Four years ago, he famously attempted a $100,000 shopping spree at Hall of Flowers, as immortalized in this viral videowith over 2 million views.
