We are happy to share that GRID Alternatives is one of Rivian Foundation's grantees! Rivian Foundation is supporting our efforts to develop and deploy innovative models for equitable access to public EV charging. Through pilot programs across diverse markets, including partnerships with Tribes and utility companies, we aim to create scalable business models that provide affordable EV charging to income-qualified drivers. This initiative will leverage existing income-qualified electricity discounts and introduce new programs to make clean mobility accessible to all. By increasing access to EV infrastructure and expanding job training opportunities in the communities we serve, Rivian Foundation’s support is contributing to driving an inclusive, just transition to clean transportation. Last week, we finished our project bringing no-cost rooftop solar to the Operation Dignity, Inc. House of Dignity shelter. House of Dignity is a converted 1920s hotel that contains 54 units to now provide shelter as well as transitional and permanent housing for veterans in the Bay Area. The new solar system is expected to offset the shelter’s electricity costs, allowing administrative staff to allocate even more funding towards proving care and service to the hundreds of veterans who come through their doors. We will be sharing more details about this project soon - stay tuned! #bayarea #houseofdignity #operationdignity #veteran #veteransupport #solar #renewables #renewableenergy #nonprofit

What a great event, and so happy our incredible Inland Empire team had the opportunity to lead the TCC lessons learned panel!
🎉 Thank you, California Association of American Planners (APA) for hosting the California Strategic Growth Council (SGC) team at this year’s Cultivating Our Future APA Conference! SGC’s Transformative Climate Communities-Resilient Community Associate Planner, Jess Ison and California’s Fifth Climate Change Assessment’s Research Engagement Specialist, Emely Anico attended the Conference in the City of Riverside to share their work and gain insights into the latest trends, best practices, and innovative solutions in urban and regional planning. “It was inspiring to learn from regional and local planners and partners about the successes and challenges they’re facing to make California’s communities more resilient and equitable,” said Jessica. Jessica was able to speak on the panel “Lessons Learned Across Three Transformative Climate Communities Grants in the Inland Empire,” sharing how #TCC is more than greenhouse gas emissions reductions or development – “it’s about catalytic investments that lead to comprehensive community centered benefits.” The City of Coachella, City of Ontario, and County of Riverside also spoke on the panel led by GRID Alternatives Inland Empire. Making for a truly great event for elevating work and #partnerships in the urban and regional planning space! #CaliforniaForAll

SEPA is proud to support The EMPOWER Project, which aims to increase the availability of workplace EV charging. Back at RE+, we had the honor of recognizing the GRID Alternatives Colorado office as an EV-friendly workplace for their efforts in advancing EV charging access. GRID Colorado has worked with the EMPOWER team and Drive Clean Colorado to provide workplace charging to their employees. This installation has allowed multiple employees to become EV drivers! I had the privilege of presenting an award to their CEO, Erica Mackie (she/her), and Martha Juarez, who have been tremendous leaders in this space. Congratulations to both the EMPOWER and GRID teams for their continued dedication to advancing clean energy and transportation equity! #EVCharging #CleanTransportation #WorkplaceCharging #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy #SEPA #RE+ #GridAlternatives #CleanTech #Electrification

Currently, nearly half of American households and businesses are unable to use rooftop solar systems due to high costs of installation or because they live in buildings that cannot host solar panels. U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján recently introduced the Community Solar Consumer Choice Act, legislation that would support community solar projects and expand access to solar energy across the country, regardless of one’s income or ability to host a solar system on their roof. Directing more resources to expand renewable energy through community solar projects would lower energy costs for consumers, support good-paying green energy jobs, and help combat the climate crisis. “As the climate crisis continues to worsen, it’s clear that we must do more to support clean energy projects like community solar,” said Senator Luján. “I’m proud to introduce the Community Solar Consumer Choice Act to expand access to solar power through community solar projects for all Americans and create more good-paying, clean energy jobs."
