In This Week's EBRInsights: Just Released — Results From the 2024 Workplace Wellness Survey. Reflecting a survey of 1,505 American full-time and part-time workers ages 21-64, the fifth annual Workplace Wellness Survey examined worker attitudes toward employment-based benefits in the workplace as well as a broad spectrum of financial wellbeing, mental health, and work/life balance issues. This year's survey found a downward trend in concern about mental well-being, but half of respondents were still at least moderately concerned about their household's financial well-being. Workers were also more likely to report being prepared to handle an emergency $500 expense than they were in 2023. This Week’s Wealth Benefits Research Issue Brief — Trends in American Families’ Financial Asset Accumulations. Financial asset accumulation, specifically accumulation in retirement plans, is a primary focus of retirement preparedness analysis. The past 30 years have seen significant shifts in the financial asset landscape regarding both the amount of total financial assets held and the distribution of these assets among the different types of financial assets, particularly due to the increased prevalence of defined contribution plans. This week’s Issue Brief, using the Federal Reserve’s Survey of Consumer Finances, examines the trends from 1992–2022 in not only how much financial assets American families have accumulated, but also how the financial assets are distributed among the various sources of these assets. This study focuses on families in the middle 60 percent of net worths. Employee Benefit Research Institute
