Great Rivers Greenway CEO Susan Trautman is full of gratitude as she announces her Spring 2025 retirement, after transforming and connecting the St. Louis region with greenways for 15 of the organization’s 25 years. “The people’s vision for a vibrant region connected with greenways has never been stronger; it has been a true honor to deliver on a mission this powerful and dynamic. I am incredibly grateful to our remarkable Board of Directors, who are consistently thoughtful, strategic, and regional in their approach, to our passionate and competent staff who do what’s right, to our dedicated and collaborative partners who make this possible, and to our amazing community members, who guide our efforts, hold us accountable and for whom we do this work. I am especially excited for the visionary leaders involved in the Brickline Greenway to bring that project fully to life by 2030.” Full announcement: https://shorturl.at/rflMs

“My role exists to ensure that the Brickline Greenway is an asset that creates a ripple effect of thoughtful, sustainable support for this community, such as repopulation and opportunities for shared prosperity. I’ve spent the last two years listening and collaborating, and now we’ve come together to create this CDC as a vehicle to both implement and amplify efforts happening in these three neighborhoods, particularly when no other tool is available.” - T. Christopher Peoples, LSIT, EIT, Equity + Economic Impact Director New collaborative CDC has formed to support the Covenant Blu-Grand Center, Jeff-Vander-Lou (JVL) and St. Louis Place neighborhoods along the greenway: https://lnkd.in/ggWFEMZf

Pillars of the Valley on the Brickline Greenway was selected as one of Urban Land Institute's 2024 Americas Awards for Excellence. We're sharing this celebration with our partners St. Louis CITY SC, Damon Davis, Lamar Johnson Collaborative, David Mason + Associates (DMA), Introba and Reed Burkett Lighting Design who helped bring this project to life. But above all, thank you to the former residents of the Mill Creek Valley neighborhood for sharing your stories with us. You can experience Pillars of the Valley outside CITYPARK stadium on Market and 22nd Street, and we're beginning construction to expand the greenway with more pillars along Market Street to Harris-Stowe State University this fall! https://lnkd.in/g-kRBD_B

Earlier this month we welcomed more than 60 park and trail professionals from around the country for the annual convening of the Collaboration of Regional Trails Initiative (CRTI). CRTI members are from similar public agencies like Great Rivers Greenway along with non-profit greenway and trail organizations and private consultants. The group got to see some of our region's gems like Forest Park, Katy Trail, and the Gateway Arch along with an immersive Brickline Greenway experience learning about equitable development, community engagement, and capital funding strategies. It was great to share ideas and learn more about how to create great trails and public spaces that work for everyone!
