During Engineers Week 2024, our Education team crafted an initiative called Keiki Protecting the Ocean, where third graders from Kaneohe Elementary and Iroquois Point Elementary created their own wastewater treatment plants. Later, they went on a field trip to the Kailua Wastewater Treatment Plant. Watch this video to follow along and see the winners of the activity. NAWIC held the first WIC Week in 1998 and it has grown and expanded each year since. Mahalo Chamber of Commerce Hawaii for organizing an incredible event! Our very own, Kevin O'Connell, spent the day sharing his experience and the different aspects of #engineering. Way to go! 🤙
#WBLWednesday: On Nov. 22, 180 fourth graders from Iroquois Point Elementary and Ewa Beach Elementary participated in the 2nd Annual Elementary Engineering Expedition at Campbell High School. We were joined by 9 engineers from the following companies: Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC), GPRM Prestress, LLC, Bowers + Kubota Consulting, C Yoshida LLC, Carollo Engineers, and the United States Air Force. The engineers led a STEM activity with the students and also shared with them what it is like to be an engineer.
