This week, we relocated residents at Good Samaritan Society − Kissimmee Village to keep them safe during Hurricane Milton. We are incredibly grateful to our staff who have worked tirelessly to ensure the health and safety of our residents, who are now returning home to the Village! ❤️

Our physical therapists make a huge difference in the lives of residents and patients. They work diligently to get them strong and back on their feet again, and we celebrate their pursuit of excellence during National Physical Therapy Month.

Last week, Sanford Health broke ground on a new continuing care retirement community, Good Samaritan Society – Founder's Crossing, located on the east side of Sioux Falls, SD, at Veterans Parkway and 57th Street. The new community will help meet an increasing need to expand senior housing and services in the Sioux Falls area, and will offer all health and wellness-related services under one roof. Sept. 30 is annually recognized as National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and coincides with Orange Shirt Day, highlighting the damage the residential school system did to the well-being of Indigenous children. Equally, it serves as a healing journey for the survivors and a commitment by all who wear an orange shirt, that every child matters. Residents, staff and family from Good Samaritan Society – International Falls in International Falls, Minnesota, recently recognized the day and wore orange shirts to show that every child matters!

Today, Sanford Health broke ground on Good Samaritan Society – Founder's Crossing, a first-of-its-kind senior community in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. “Over the next five years, the population of adults over 65 will grow by nearly 20% in the Sioux Falls area,” said Nate Schema, president and CEO of the Good Samaritan Society. “More senior housing units are needed to keep up with the growth and ensure seniors have access to care and a community designed specifically for them. These three special ladies from Good Samaritan Society – Hutchinson Village in Hutchinson, Kansas, were recently surprised with an anniversary party! In the next few months, these members of the Hutchinson Village leadership team will hit the following milestones with the Society: Michelle May, social services coordinator, 45 years Bonnie Stapelton, activities director, 44 years Patty Allen. environmental supervisor, 40 years. Congratulations, ladies! Thank you for all you do! 🎉

Left unfulfilled with her previous occupations at a grocery store and pharmacy, Julie Oaks pieced together a new, purposeful profession as a medication aide at Good Samaritan Society – Prairie Creek. "It's a great career to get into. And working for Good Sam, they make you feel important and appreciated," the 25-year-old said. It's National Centenarian's Day, a day to honor those who have celebrated 100 birthdays or more! Shoutout to these wonderful residents, Velma and Anita, from Good Samaritan Society – Grand Island Village in Grand Island, Nebraska, who are 100 and 103 years young! Looking great, ladies! 🎉
