Breaking news to close our presence at the #RIPE89 conference (RIPE NCC)! Our wonderful colleague Andrei Robachevsky has been elected to join the Number Council of the Number Resource Organization (aka NRO NC)! The NRO is one of the most important organizations that keep the Internet running, acting as a coordinating body for the five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) -- AFRINIC, APNIC, ARIN, LACNIC, and RIPE NCC -- where they formalize their cooperative efforts. While the NRO is staffed by the RIRs, the NRO NC is made up of three community representatives from each region. In this case, Andrei will be a representative from RIPE, the region that represents Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East. The NRO NC also performs the role of the ASO AC (in case you didn’t have enough acronyms!), one of the supporting bodies for ICANN. Congrats, Andrei! We are really proud! https://lnkd.in/evumCdwn

GCA’s President and CEO, Philip Reitinger, met with Authority Magazine to discuss: “5 Things Every American Business Leader Should Do To Shield Themselves From A Cyberattack.” In the interview, he covered his background and career, the role of AI in cybersecurity, common mistakes he sees individuals and organizations making, and what movement he hopes to inspire that would bring the most amount of good to the most amount of people. Here are the five key things every business leader should do: ⭐ Use up-to-date systems and turn on auto-updates to ensure vulnerabilities are patched as soon as possible. ⭐ Implement stronger authentication — whether it’s multi-factor authentication or password alternatives — anything beyond a basic username and password will significantly increase security. ⭐ Use a protective DNS service like Quad9 DNS or Cloudflare’s 1.1.1.1, which can block much of the malicious traffic. ⭐ Back up your systems regularly so you can recover if an attack happens. ⭐ Communicate the importance of cybersecurity to your team — make it clear that security is a priority, and empower your employees to take the necessary steps to keep the company safe. https://hubs.ly/Q02WBJq80

It's been a busy week for GCA's Internet Integrity (I2) and Common Good Cyber teams! I2 is in Prague at RIPE NCC's #RIPE89 conference where Mutually Agreed Norms for Routing Security (MANRS) and #RoutingSecurity are always a central topic. There's also a lot of interest in our work around unwanted traffic, that is, in the future of the #AIDE project and in what we’ve come to call ‘Data-driven Collective Action’. Meanwhile, this week in Bucharest at #BCC2024, our director of Common Good Initiatives discussed the whole-of-society approach to securing new technologies like #cloudcomputing. It's in line with our Driving Ecosystem Engagement program, especially #cybercivildefense. Kayle Giroud moderated "Harnessing the power of cloud services: Navigating regulatory changes for a competitive and secure digital future" - a panel hosted by Thales. Proud to partner with Mastercard to help small businesses across the globe protect themselves from cyber threats. The GCA Cybersecurity Toolkit for Small Business is one of the many tools and resources available via the Mastercard Trust Center (in English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish). 📹 A powerful video which showcases the scale of the problem and Mastercard's dedication and commitment to addressing it through both individual and collective action - together we ARE achieving so much more - thank you.
The digital ecosystem continues to expand, with around 5 billion of us connected. This brings new opportunities – and challenges. For small businesses, who are often the most vulnerable to cyberattacks, safeguarding operations is critical. At Mastercard, we understand that trust and security aren't just priorities; they are essential. That’s why we’ve created the Mastercard Trust Center—offering free cybersecurity, education, resources, and tools to help businesses combat hackers and stay resilient. Our experts Johan Gerber, Gina Ganahl, PhD and Alissa Abdullah, PhD explain why cybersecurity is relevant to us all: https://lnkd.in/e5b6AjqM #cybersecurity #AI #DigitalEcosystem #CyberRisk
