Global Partners recently partnered with the U.S. Coast Guard's COTP Sector New York to conduct a comprehensive, full-scale spill exercise in Albany. After extensive planning and coordination, the three-day exercise kicked off successfully, with equipment deployments from our Albany Terminal and the Port of Albany on the first day. Throughout the exercise, Global’s teams made initial notifications and then collaborated closely with Federal, State, and local agencies. Together, they established the Incident Command System (ICS) and staffed the Unified Command under the leadership of COTP Andrechik. Our dedicated employees and contractors played key roles in all aspects of the exercise, including active participation in the joint information center. Their professionalism and expertise earned high praise from other participants. This was truly a remarkable team effort—well done to everyone involved!

Global Partners is proud to offer renewable diesel, a low-carbon, fossil-free fuel, to our customers in Connecticut, marking the first time this eco-friendly fuel is available in the state. To celebrate, Global donated $5,000 worth of renewable diesel to Connecticut Foodshare, a non-profit organization that helps fight food insecurity across the state. Fuel is one of the organization's largest expenses. Global's renewable diesel donation will provide a week's worth of fuel, which is a huge cost savings for the food bank and translates to so much more, says Connecticut Foodshare President and CEO, Jason Jakubowski.   "Every dollar donated to Connecticut Foodshare provides two meals, so a $5,000 donation translates to 10,000 meals for our neighbors. This critical support not only addresses food insecurity for nearly 470,000 individuals, including one in six children, but also helps cover the significant cost of fueling our fleet, which consumes 67,000 gallons of diesel annually. Global's contribution enables us to sustain our operations and extend our reach in combating hunger."

Exciting News for a Greener Future!  Global Partners, a leading independent energy supplier and retail operator, is thrilled to announce a major milestone in our sustainability journey. We are now offering renewable diesel out of the East Haven terminal—making it the first time this eco-friendly fuel has been available in Connecticut!  Renewable diesel is crafted from fats, oils, and waste products from the food and restaurant industries. It provides the same performance as traditional petroleum diesel but with up to 78% lower emissions, as highlighted by the EPA. This development is a significant step toward helping Connecticut achieve its climate goals and offers our customers a robust option to reduce their environmental impact. John McCusker, VP of Wholesale Marketing at Global Partners LP, shares, “Offering renewable diesel to our commercial customers underscores the importance of supporting sustainable practices and reducing carbon footprints. This innovative fuel burns cleaner, leading to lower greenhouse gas emissions and better air quality. We’re proud to be early adopters and suppliers of this ‘green fuel,’ and we are excited to deliver it to the communities we serve.” Here’s to driving positive change and embracing a more sustainable future together!  #Sustainability #RenewableDiesel #CleanEnergy #ClimateGoals #GreenFuel #Innovation

For the final Lunch and Learn of the summer, #GlobalPInterns sat down with Maura McDonough, Chief People Officer.  Maura emphasized the importance of continuous learning, both in niche areas and more broadly, to become the best candidate and employee possible. She explained how her deep understanding of specific areas in HR allowed her to grow her career and ultimately lead teams effectively. She also shared invaluable insights on the benefits of making lateral moves within a company, questions to ask during interviews, finding the ideal work environment, and building confidence in your work.  “See roadblocks as an opportunity.”  “Don’t be afraid — change is good. You’re going to experience a lot of it in your career.”  “You have to do the scary thing, and that’s how you get the confidence. Even if it doesn’t always feel like confidence when you’re in it.” Maura concluded by acknowledging the interns' hard work this summer, sharing that the C-Suite has been buzzing about the intern presentations the week prior.

The Lunch and Learn lead by Marlon B., Senior Director of Programs and Projects, was particularly special as the #GlobalPInterns met with and learned about five team members from the Project Management Office.  Marlon explained the importance of PMO at Global Partners, and how it interacts with every aspect of the company. Opening with the quote “a goal without a plan is just a dream”, the interns were able to get a firsthand idea of just how integral the PMO team is to make the dreams of Global a reality. Following Marlon’s presentation, the interns also heard from other members of the PMO team as they shared their paths to their current roles at Global.  These Lunch and Learn’s allow our 30+ interns to interact with each other and gain exposure to different areas of our business. Sales Intern, Danny H. told us, “I wasn’t completely sure what project management entailed, but after hearing the team discuss their roles and objectives, I realized how integral their duties are to Global’s success.”
