Congratulations to Marianne Glick on being honored as the 2024 Indiana Conference for Women dedicatee! Thank you for sharing your story, inspiration, and call to vote by November 5. Marianne recited the following poem, The Women in the Glass, by Dale Wimbrow. When you get what you want as you struggle for self and the world makes you queen for a day, just go to the mirror and look at yourself, and see what that woman has to say. For it isn’t your father or mother or husband who’s judgement upon you must pass; The person whose verdict counts most in your life is the one staring back from the glass. She’s the person to please, never mind all the rest, for she’s with you clear up to the end. And you’ve passed your most dangerous, difficult test if the woman in the glass is your friend. You may fool the whole world down the pathway of life, and get pats on your back as you pass. But your final reward will be heartache and tears if you’ve cheated the woman in the glass.

*** UPDATE *** At this time, we can confirm all veterans have been accounted for. HVAF is open and operational. The Donald W. Moreau Sr. Veterans Community Center is open for our regular pantry hours: Tuesday/Thursday 11:30 P.M. - 2:30 P.M. --- On October 26, at around 9:30 P.M., there was a significant fire at HVAF of Indiana’s Manchester Apartments — located at 960 Pennsylvania Street in downtown Indianapolis. This facility serves as a transitional housing property for 48 homeless veterans. The damage was catastrophic, and we are unsure of the cause at this time. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD) are currently investigating the fire, please direct all fire-related questions to them. We are thankful for IFD promptly arriving on the scene to work to put out the fire, and for IndyGo providing busses for providing transportation for displaced veterans. Veterans have been relocated to local hotel rooms and we are coordinating with partners to provide appropriate support. If you would like to support HVAF during this time, please donate here: https://lnkd.in/gWwyg2sX You can also purchase items on our Amazon Wish List that we will provide to the displaced veterans, which can be accessed here: https://lnkd.in/gHcxaXAe For veterans struggling to return to self-sufficiency, the loss last night is unimaginable. We appreciate the support of our community as we work to rebuild and recover.

Congratulations to Marianne Glick on being selected as the 2024 Indiana Conference for Women honoree! Join us to celebrate Marianne on November 1.
As Chairman of The Glick Family Foundation Board of Directors, Marianne Glick is living out her passion for helping others. Giving has been a common theme, established throughout Marianne’s life by her father and mother, Eugene and Marilyn, who focused on giving back to the community. Collectively they changed the landscape of the city of Indianapolis. “There are so many people who don’t have the opportunities that I have had,” shares Marianne. “As a community and as a society, we have to be able to assist others and provide opportunities to help develop their full potential in a variety of ways.” Marianne serves on the board of directors for the Gene B. Glick Company, United Way of Central Indiana, Central Indiana Community Foundation, Ascend Indiana, RISE, and the State Board of Trustees for Ivy Tech Community College. She is president of the TeenWorks Board of Directors. “If there is a cause that I am passionate about, I meet with the CEO to see if I can assist in some way,” says Marianne, who is clearly not shy about her passionate commitment to community service. Marianne is an accomplished artist with paintings being accepted into juried competitions and winning awards throughout the US. “Marianne is a lovable free spirit with multidirectional deep talents. She can motivate you, amuse you and inspire you.” - Mickey Maurer, Chairman of the Board of The National Bank of Indianapolis and Chairman, IBJ Media Corp. 💡 Philanthropic organizations can play a crucial role in preserving #affordablehousing by providing gap funding in the form of soft funds or low-cost loans, enabling the underwriting of lower rents and helping to meet community demand. Read Glick Housing Foundation's latest article for more on creative approaches to preservation.
In this Q&A with Affordable Housing Finance, Glick Housing Foundation president David Barrett discusses the growing housing shortage, significant barriers to meeting demand, and creative approaches to preservation. Ultimately, the best solutions will involve public-private partnerships: 🏘 Housing developers and providers can partner with city leaders to leverage property tax incentives for preserving #affordablehousing. Often, these exemptions are offered to encourage property upgrades and supportive services that improve the condition of affordable housing units and residents’ quality of life. 📈 HUD recently announced $30 billion in renewal funding for the Housing Choice Voucher program. Without concurrent expansion of funding for #housingpreservation — such as increased LIHTC allocations — voucher holders may struggle to find affordable homes. As state agencies are ultimately responsible for #LIHTC allocations, they must think about how to incentivize preservation projects when developing their policies. 💰 Philanthropic organizations can play a crucial role by providing gap funding in the form of soft funds or low-cost loans, enabling the underwriting of lower rents and helping to meet community demand.
