🌟 Celebrating #20YearsOfPartnership! On the occasion of celebrating 20 years of partnership with the African Union, we had the honour of reconnecting with Inge Dr. Baumgarten, the former Director of GIZ African Union and the current Country Director for GIZ Togo. She reflected warmly on her four years at the GIZ African Union, highlighted the tangible outcomes of the partnership, which are evident in countries like Togo, where she now leads GIZ efforts. “Our combined expertise and network […] are so important. Working with the African Union, it was a privilege to be in that position and to shape the partnership between GIZ, representing Germany, and the African Union, representing the interests of its member states.” 🎥 Watch the video below for the full reflection! ⬇️ Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH #AUandGermany20 #20YearsOfPartnership #SustainableFuture #PartnershipForGrowth #PartnershipForImpact #Africa

🌍 Progress towards a unified African market #AfCFTA! Here are the latest highlights from across Africa in the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (#AfCFTA): 📌 #Ethiopia | 9-13 December 2024 At the Africa Industrialisation Week 2024, hosted by the African Union and African Women in Processing (AWIP), we explored AI, green technologies, and intellectual property to foster innovation—advancing #Agenda2063’s vision of Africa as a global economic powerhouse. 📌 #Ethiopia | 5-6 December 2024 Together with the International Trade Centre, African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, and the African Union, we hosted a two-day workshop to strengthen African countries’ national capacities in collecting high-quality trade-in-services data and emphasised the critical role of reliable data in monitoring trade. The workshop focused on the transport and tourism sectors and featured insights from ministries, central banks, national statistics agencies, and regional economic communities. 📌 #Kenya | 2-6 December 2024 Our Kenya team hosted a Tunisia automotive industry delegation to explore AfCFTA opportunities. The delegation engaged with the State Department of Industry in Kenya, the Tunisian Embassy, and industry leaders like CFAO, Isuzu, Roam, and Kibo among others. Talks focused on leveraging Africa's skilled labour, resources, and markets to boost local manufacturing, regional value chains, and e-mobility. 📌 #Malawi | 29 November 2024 We held a productive consultative meeting with the Malawian Ministry of Trade and Industry to explore opportunities arising from #GreeningTheAfCFTA for Malawi. Key actions identified include promoting Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards, implementing the sustainability provisions of the Investment Protocol, and attracting green finance. Stay tuned for more updates as we collaborate to create a unified African market! #Trade #Development #AfCFTA #AfricanTrade #DigitalTrade #WomenInTrade #YouthInTrade #EconomicGrowth #SustainableDevelopment #Collaboration #Africa
