We inspire all girls to be joyful, healthy & confident!
About us
Girls on the Run Las Vegas empowers 3rd through 8th grade girls to find their strong and tackle big goals. We train volunteer coaches to use an evidence-based curriculum that uses running to teach the life skills girls need to pursue any big dream. Our seasons culminates in a celebratory, noncompetitive 5K, giving our participants a tangible sense of achievement while increasing self-confidence. We offer our program virtually and in-person (when it's safe), and creatively find ways to serve all girls, including those who can't afford the program. We offer step-down pricing and no girl is ever turned away for inability to pay registration fees. Our Celebratory 5Ks are traditionally held in December at Springs Preserve and in May at UNLV. Please note that we are unable to host our Spring 5K in 2021 due to COVID.

Come join us! Applications are open until October 18th.
Recruiting is open for the 2025 cohort of new members for the Girls on the Run Las Vegas Board of Directors! Girls on the Run Las Vegas has been growing significantly in the past few years and we need your help to keep empowering more girls across Vegas Valley. This year, we are focused on strengthening our Development Committee and diversifying our Board. In our case, that means we’re looking for not only racial and ethnic diversity, but also men (we’re currently all women), members of the LGBTQ+ community, and folks with disabilities of any type. Our Board meets monthly, the evening of the third Thursday, and members are expected to be active on a subcommittee as well. Interested, but have questions? Please email Executive Director, Kate McLaughlin at [email protected]. Ready to apply? We are proud to partner with the Southern Nevada Health District for their Childhood Obesity Awareness campaign during the month of September. Over the last couple of weeks, we have been sharing some tips to help you and your loved ones meet their recommendations. See below for some of the strategies that the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends to stay healthy and active: - 5 or more servings of fruits and vegetables - 2 or fewer hours of recreational screen time - 1 or more hours of physical activity - 0 sweetened beverages For more tips and tricks, click the link below: https://bit.ly/3pzyeN2

Each month, Girls on the Run Las Vegas Board members watch, read, or listen to an item selected to help them think about IDEA issues (Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility). We call it IDEA Quest. At the monthly Board meeting, time is set aside to discuss the assignment. This helps us keep IDEA issues top of mind as we do the work of governing an organization that teaches IDEA to girls and gender expansive youth across Vegas Valley. Here is our September IDEA Quest assignment. Enjoy! https://lnkd.in/gVQsPsJn

Nonprofits are tasked with solving some of the most difficult challenges facing our community and country. But the data shows that southern Nevada’s nonprofit sector is grossly undersized, understaffed, and underfunded. According to GrantLab’s 2023 Nonprofit Sector Analysis, the severe challenges include: 👉 Just 15 active nonprofits per 100,000 residents, compared to 25 or more elsewhere. 👉 Annual expenditures of just $783 per resident, compared to $4,007 elsewhere. 👉 Low rates of net assets and cash-on-hand, leaving many nonprofits unable to cover 3-months of expenses. 👉 A workforce that is less than half the size of similar regions. When nonprofits are shortchanged like this, Nevadans miss out on services that are vital to the overall health and well-being of our community.
