Co-Founder & CEO at Ringlet | Building next-gen care coordination technology for caregivers

One of the most meaningful parts of my role at Ringlet has been listening to and learning from the personal stories of caregivers. There are 100M caregivers in America. There is so much shared experience in this community, but you will also find 100M unique stories. One recurring theme that I hear and that I've seen firsthand is how incredibly consuming, challenging, and potentially isolating it is to be a caregiver in America. At this scale and for how important this work is, you'd expect there to be a strong support system in place. But that is not the case. In fact, what I often hear is that caregivers feel as though the weight of the world rests on their shoulders. The simple truth is that caregivers need more support than what they're currently receiving. That is one of the core missions of Ringlet. Hearing these stories is what inspires us to bring change to the status quo of caregiving in America. Are you a caregiver or know someone who is? I'd love to hear in this post's comments or through direct message the challenges you experience and see.

This is such an important recognition from the U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murphy about the connection between parental stress and kids’ mental health. It’s clear that we need to do more to support caregivers and young people more support as they navigate our tech-filled world. #WorldMentalHealthDay

A full 8 minutes dedicated to child care and paid family leave in the VP debate. My mind is honestly still blown! But to be clear, this was not a coincidence. We have been working towards this moment for months. Six months ago, Moms First set off to do something that had never been done before: elevate child care in the national conversation and secure commitments from both presidential candidates that they would pass affordable child care. So many women have been fighting for child care for decades, and I am so grateful for their advocacy. But time and time again, child care has fallen out of the spotlight, leaving moms to pick up the pieces and struggle with the financial and mental costs of child care alone. This time had to be different. So Moms First put together a plan to make child care impossible to ignore. And it worked. We got a question asked about child care at the first presidential debate. We set off a viral news cycle after asking President Trump about child care at a major economic address. We mobilized thousands of moms across the country to share their child care stories. And, last night, the vice presidential candidates spent nearly 8 minutes debating solutions to our child care crisis on the national stage. Before we started this campaign, no one had released any childcare plans or made any childcare commitments. Now, both presidential candidates and their running mates have openly committed to tackle the childcare crisis. I've never been more certain that moms really do get shit done. 😉 To all the moms, parents, and caregivers who have spoken out, written letters, even let out a scream, you did this. Change is on the horizon.

📢 BIG news: A new study released today found there are over 105 MILLION adults giving care in the United States. That number has nearly *doubled* in the last ten years – and now more than FORTY percent of people in this country are caregivers! This finding underscores what we’ve known all along: Care touches everyone at some point in their lives. Across political, racial, and generational divides, we care for our children, our elders, disabled loved ones, and extended family and friends as a practice of our shared values. That’s why care must be accessible and affordable for everyone in this country, because each one of us will need care in our lifetimes and we shouldn’t have to dwindle our savings, sell our homes, and exhaust our resources to get the care we need and deserve. We must create a future in which caring for our loved ones is no longer an isolating experience, but a communal responsibility. Thank you to RAND Corporation for this much-needed research on care! Alongside 105 million caregivers in the U.S., we continue our fight for care, because #CareCantWait!

I'm grateful for the opportunity to attend the Highmark Health Business Inclusion Micro-Conference on behalf of Ringlet: innovative care coordination tech for family caregivers. I learned so much from so many fantastic speakers. I was struck by how much time and effort Highmark Health has put into building an inclusive and diverse procurement process. It was also an amazing opportunity to begin to share more about what Ringlet can offer to healthcare payors like Highmark Health and their members. Many family caregivers in Pennsylvania and across the country are underwater and overburdened. They need more support from all sectors, including the technology sector. Ringlet is building innovative care coordination technology that can lighten the load that caregivers face. We see the potential for massive impact on health outcomes and reduced healthcare costs. I'm excited to continue to share what Ringlet is building. I also wanted to thank the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) and Three Rivers Business Alliance for helping Ringlet achieve certification as an LGBTQ+ owned business that opened doors like this fantastic conference. #inclusion #diversity #familycaregivers #caregivers #caretech #famtech

This is a meaningful summation of what motivates us here at Ringlet. We’re inspired by all the work being done by the National Alliance for Caregiving. 53 million unpaid family caregivers in America aren’t getting the support they need. They need help from all sectors of our society - including technology. As do the 5 million direct care workers. That’s why we’re developing an innovative care coordination platform to better serve the family caregivers of America and beyond.

Over 5 million direct care workers and 53 million family caregivers form the common thread that weaves through the fabric of our long-term care system. Together, they provide essential support for older adults, people with disabilities, and people with chronic conditions across the U.S. Yet, despite their critical role, both groups face significant challenges:   ☑ Home care workers earn a median of just $16.13/hour, and 40% live in or near poverty. ☑ 45% of family caregivers experience adverse economic impacts due to caregiving   As our population ages, demand for care will only increase. It's time to recognize the invaluable contribution of these caregivers and invest in their well-being. Doing so is an investment in our shared future. We must improve job quality for direct care workers, provide better support and resources for family caregivers, and strengthen the partnership between them. Share this post to help us spread the word about the vital role of all caregivers and stay tuned for more content!   Visit for more information: https://lnkd.in/edYxMPeA #TogetherInCare #FamilyCaregivers #DirectCareWorkers #CaregiverNation

I'm excited to share that Ringlet has been accepted into FamTech.org: the country's only tech association connecting leaders across the care ecosystem. Thank you to Anna Steffeney for leading this fantastic org and welcoming us into the community. At Ringlet, we're focused on one of the most important workforces in the country: the 50M+ family caregivers who give their unpaid labor to care for the people they love. We can't wait to collaborate with others in the FamTech.org community and work together to address the care crisis in America. #careeconomy #carecrisis #care #caregivers #healthtech #socialhealth

There's a looming care crisis in America. At Ringlet, we're working on technology that can be part of the solution. The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Dynata created a stellar report on the massive challenges facing the care economy. Over half the U.S. workforce, around 90 million people, have care responsibilities outside of their full-time jobs. 50 million of those people rely on unpaid care from family and friends. For many millions of these people, they are under enormous financial, emotional, and mental strains because they do not have the support they need. As the report states, this crisis can only be solved with concerted action across many facets of society, including the technology sector. In 2021, $3 billion was invested in care companies and I would hope that number has only grown. At Ringlet, we're proud to be developing technology innovation that can help address the massive care challenges experienced by so many millions of people. #careeconomy #caretech #carecrisis #healthtech #socialhealth

As many of us viscerally experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic, social isolation and loneliness can profoundly impact our health. That is on full display in the U.S. government's HHS OASH Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Healthy People 2030 initiative. They are doing really important work in tracking key metrics around the social determinants of health. While many of the program's objectives are improving, key indicators of many groups' social health is either stagnant or in decline. Seeing information like this is what motivates the work we are doing at Ringlet. Social health is health. Just like our physical and mental health profoundly impacts the quality of our lives, so too does social health. We're encouraged that important institutions are recognizing this fact and investing in solutions. At Ringlet, we're proud to believe that social technology can be part of the solution. #healthtech #healthcare #healthandwellness #socialhealth #mentalhealth
