GIPL gone Wylde!! 🐌🐞🪰 Last month, local Green Team leaders spent a day learning, touring, and working at the Wylde Center Sugar Creek site in Decatur. Sugar Creek is meant to serve as a model for urban farming on unbuildable land and features pockets of pollinators, medicinal herbs, and community garden beds. Special thanks to Alan Ashe (Wylde Center Site Coordinator and Oakhurst Presbyterian Green Team member) who led our time together! #ReWilding #Gardening #Sustainability

“From earth's wide bounds, from ocean's farthest coast, through gates of pearl streams in the countless host..." (William Walsham How, 1864) Today, on this #AllSaintsDay we remember and give thanks for all the faithful environmental heroes who have brought us with love thus far. 🖤 This year, we especially honor Natalie "Tally" Hammock Sweat who passed away peacefully in August. Tally was a great friend of GIPL and worked closely with us on the leadership team of the GEORGIA WATER COALITION. She was a staunch advocate for Georgia wildlife and a dedicated public servant who brought lasting impact to our beloved state. 🖤 Join us in giving thanks for Tally in the comments and uplift the names of others who have helped you feel more connected to Creation over the years.

A small victory for residents in Telfair County! However, as our executive director, Codi Norred, said last week, "We have a long way to go until Telfair Forest Products and its competitors decide South Georgians’ health is more important than industry. We will continue to keep the pressure on until all Georgians can breathe clean air!” #stopbiomass CC: Southern Environmental Law Center, Sierra Club Georgia Chapter, and Dogwood Alliance https://lnkd.in/eqKQ4m_f

"Jesus reminds us that we are the salt of the earth... 🌎 We are the salt of the earth when we protect biodiversity... 💧 We are the salt of the earth when we pull trash out of rivers... ☀️ We are the salt of the earth when we retrofit our buildings with LED lights and solar panels so that we can power our houses of worship with clean energy." In a recent sermon for Clairmont Presbyterian Church, GIPL's Program Director, Hannah Shultz, reminded parishioners of Jesus' call to be like salt—working to "restore Creation to its original goodness and bring justice to our communities." Check out her sermon today!

🥬🌼 From growing Kale for Meals on Wheels to removing Kudzu, planting Milkweed, or introducing native Honeysuckle—GIPL's West Georgia ReWilding Workshop Saturday in LaGrange was filled with inspiration and great ideas! Participants learned about various sustainable land use solutions their congregations may implement to better care for our climate. Special thanks to our host, St Mark's Episcopal Church, LaGrange, and our plenary speaker, Ashley Desensi of Chattahoochee Riverkeeper! You all offered tangible examples of the power and potential of effective #ReWilding.
