Polk County’s manufacturing sector is getting a major boost! Governor Brian Kemp announced today that SOLARCYCLE, a leading solar recycling company, will accelerate its expansion in Polk County to meet rising demand. The Georgia Council for the Arts, part of GDEcD, announced the recipients of this year's Vibrant Communities and Cultural Facilities grants. The 46th Annual Joint Meeting between the Southeast U.S.-Japan Association (SEUS-Japan) wraps up today in Charlotte, North Carolina. The conference supports innovation and growth between the Southeastern United States and Japan. Commissioner Pat Wilson led the Georgia delegation, commemorating the 50-plus years of partnerships between the state and Japan. Georgia’s international partnerships and location to its neighboring states are all part of the formula for shared success.

We celebrated the grand opening of Boehringer Ingelheim's expanded research facility in Athens, Georgia! With a $66 million investment and 63 new jobs, this expansion enhances our state’s life sciences ecosystem. Commissioner Pat Wilson remarked, “Today’s expansion represents opportunities to retain Georgia’s well-educated, diverse talent and strengthens the local economy.”

Last month, Shinsung Petrochemical announced an investment of $11.2 million in a new facility in Toombs County, creating over 30 jobs and further expanding Georgia’s automotive supply chain. Governor Brian Kemp shared, "We are excited that Shinsung is joining the growing network of suppliers locating in rural communities." This investment will play a key role in supporting Hyundai Motor Group and the Metaplant. A major development for Georgia’s energy industry. TMC Transformers USA Inc., a leading manufacturer of dry-type transformers, is investing more than $15.3 million in a new manufacturing facility in Waynesboro, creating at least 110 new jobs in Burke County. “After meeting with TMC's leadership in Italy, we were truly impressed by their warmth, hospitality, and enthusiasm for their decision to invest in Georgia. The transformers TMC will manufacture in Burke County are critical in addressing energy infrastructure needs for the state and the nation,” said GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson. Earlier this year, Governor Brian Kemp met with TMC leadership at their headquarters in Italy, where they discussed the company’s plans for growth in the U.S. and Georgia. Another significant investment in Georgia’s future! Governor Brian P. Kemp has announced that American International Group, Inc. (AIG), a global leader in insurance, will establish a new innovation hub in DeKalb County. This expansion will triple AIG’s current Atlanta-area office space and create more than 600 new roles over the next five years, growing their local workforce to over 1,000 employees.
