We were excited to be a part of the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development's convening yesterday, that brought multiple organizations together on the state of Downtown DC's transformation. Our Economic Development Director Faith Broderick did an outstanding job sharing about Georgetown's economic recovery and strong position as the city's premier shopping and dining destination.
Yesterday, Mayor Bowser and DMPED hosted an event on the future of DC’s sustained economy, centering on strategic priorities for attracting high-growth industries, revitalizing Downtown DC’s commercial sector, and addressing the evolution of the federal city. Our thanks to Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy for hosting us in their beautiful new building, and to the Washington DC Economic Partnership, Federal City Council, and Gensler for making the event a reality. Our thanks to the presenters, panelists, and thought leaders who dedicated their time, energy, and expertise. And our thanks to all the attendees for taking time out of your days to come together for what we hope was a thoughtful and impactful discussion. The exciting opportunities for a vibrant economic future are within reach. But we have to work together to get there. As Mayor Bowser said: we are the best city in the world. We are a resilient city. Our finances are strong and our economic fundamentals are strong. But we need you to keep the ideas coming and to think big, because DC is ready to be your partner.
