George Salinas Injury Lawyers is excited to be a premier sponsor for the exclusive movie screening of 'The Long Game', inspired by our attorney Humberto Garcia's book 'Mustang Miracle', starring Dennis Quaid and Jay Hernandez. This feature film (releasing in theatres April 12, 2024) tells the true story of the San Felipe Mustangs, a group of 1950's Mexican-American teens living in Del Rio who wanted to play golf despite having little resources - they even created their own homemade course on bare South Texas land! They competed against affluent, all-white teams and went on to win the 1957 Texas state golf championship! This premier sponsorship for the event also enables students from our local communities to attend the screening for free AND benefit the Pete Torres, Jr. Memorial Scholarship, providing scholarships for area college-bound students (many of whom are from underserved communities and the first in their families to attend college) as well as the Edward Charles Foundation for Project Película, an organization who sends under-resourced school-age children living along the Mexican-American border to experience the movie. With the premier sponsorship, we have tickets to watch the movie and celebrate Humberto's achievement, and we are thrilled to be a part of it! The premiere is taking place on March 28th at 6:30 pm at the Edgewood ISD Theatre of Performing Arts.
