Celebrating the impact of #FamilyU and their Fellows like Rickkita Riddick, MSW, who together are transforming higher education for student parents. At Norfolk State University, Rickkita's advocacy has led to the creation of The Village, a student parent affinity group, and the addition of 6 new family-inclusive spaces on campus. From cross-functional support to family-friendly events, FamilyU is fostering community and empowering diverse student parents nationwide. This Student Parent Month, let’s recognize the vital role these communities play in reshaping educational experiences and support systems. #StudentParentMonth #FamilyInclusive

Exciting news from The University of New Mexico's FamilyU cohort! Featured in an Inside Higher Ed article on new Title IX regulations, UNM's newly released Pregnancy Manual, effective August 1, provides key accommodations like online class access and leave of absence rights. The manual also guides pregnant students in clinicals, labs, and group work, ensuring alternative paths to completion. Thank you for championing student parent rights! 🙌📚 . . . . "Often, the answer is 'no,' or that things can be done differently—more efficiently, more inclusively. I want us to look at all of our practices, our procedures, our policies with fresh eyes" Our Founder & CEO, Nicole Lynn Lewis, recently shared with Howard Community College what her son taught her during his first week of kindergarten. Generation Hope’s Five-Year Strategic Path is rooted in this very mindset. By 2029, together we will impact 3 million parenting students by asking the tough questions and challenging the status quo. You can transform the DNA of higher education, one question at a time. So, when someone says, "We have to do it this way," we urge YOU to ask, "Why, why can’t we do it differently?"

As the fall semester begins, student parents are not just thinking about their own return to school, but also their children heading back into the classroom. To celebrate and support this journey, we recently hosted a Back-to-School Picnic in New Orleans, bringing together our Scholars and their mentors. We draw so much inspiration from seeing their dedication to both their education and their families as they prepare for the challenges of the semester ahead. 💜 . . . . . .
