Microglia are immune cells in the brain that play an essential role in brain development and function. However, when microglia become overstimulated, their excess activity can lead to neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. In this video, watch as our scientist, Max Tauc-Adrian, uses microscopy to visualize how microglia (highlighted in pink) work in the brain by “pruning” neuronal connections (shown in green). Learn more about his research investigating the movement and function of microglia in healthy and diseased brains in Nature Communications: http://spr.ly/6047UKHjf
