Last weekend, I led the annual Board retreat for the Garden State Bar Association where I introduced my vision for this bar year. I also shared the 49th anniversary commemorative video for the first time. I feel so very fortunate to have found a professional space where I am surrounded by brilliant lawyers, judges, CEOs, and legislators who alway encourage me to show up as my authentic self. I think Paul Laurence Dunbar would be proud. #iykyk

A MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT KENYA TYSON Dear Members and Friends, I hope this message finds you well and rejuvenated after a well-deserved break. As your 2024-2025 Garden State Bar Association President, it is with great enthusiasm and renewed energy that I thank you for your support for our sold-out 49th Anniversary Scholarship & Awards Gala and welcome you all back to the new bar year! I am truly excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. While our collective commitment to advancing the legal profession and serving our community remains our guiding star, this year’s gala and bar year theme “Honoring our Past, While Fortifying Our Future” will be front and center in the work that we endeavor upon! This year promises to be filled with enriching events, important discussions, and collaborative projects that will further our mission and strengthen our bond. Your participation and contributions are what make the Garden State Bar Association thrive and your involvement is invaluable! Together, we will continue to uphold the highest standards of our profession, foster a supportive network, and advocate for justice and integrity. During our recent Board of Directors retreat, I shared my priorities for the year: promoting democracy and justice, advancing justice reform, developing pipelines to the profession, and ensuring the historic preservation of our great organization as we approach our 50th anniversary. I am looking forward to sharing more of my vision with you at our first General Body Meeting, which will take place on September 9th at 6pm at Cole Schotz. It was a pleasure to celebrate Joel Clymer, Esq. as Professional Lawyer of the Year on behalf of the Garden State Bar Association. Joel has served as a phenomenal leader of the organization and we are excited to see him sworn in as President-elect of the organization at our upcoming Gala. Joel is a zealous advocate for justice and a thoughtful and intentional leader and we view him as integral part of the organization’s success.
