Ryan Jackson wasn’t planning to go into #manufacturing, but during a tour of the West Georgia Technical College campus, he learned about the Precision Manufacturing program and he, “liked what he saw.” He joined the program as a dual-enrollment student and started a part-time position as an electro-maintenance assistant at Kimberly-Clark in LaGrange, just a few months later.   When asked what he would tell others about his experience in manufacturing so far, he said, “If you are working and not having fun, you’re in the wrong job.” Jackson enjoys working with his hands and feeling a sense of accomplishment. He also enjoys the camaraderie with his team and the supportive work environment at the plant. Born on October 1, 1924, former president and Yellow Jacket Jimmy Carter turns 100 years old today. President Carter was a cadet in the Georgia Tech ROTC program before leaving Atlanta to serve in the U.S. Navy in 1943. He is the longest-lived president in the history of our country. Carter holds an honorary doctorate of engineering from Georgia Tech and was awarded the Ivan Allen Jr. Prize for Social Courage in 2017. Happy Birthday President Carter! 💯
